Yesterday's 4th hike to Čičer above Ročinj with 44 participants succeeded. In partly cloudy weather we first visited the church of St. Peter above Ajba, then the path led us to the church of St. Paul above Ročinj. We reached the top after 3 hours. After photos and snack we descended through the forest to the village where refreshment and socializing with participants awaited us.

Today interesting hike to Čičer from Ročinj. About 90 hikers gathered in the morning and in nice sunny weather we headed to Čičer 726 m high peak.

It was nice today. Surprisingly many gathered in Ročinj. 182 hikers. 12 km of walking.

The route of the 14th Hike to Čičer (Sunday, 8.2.2026) is selected. The hike will take place this year from Ročinj to Ajba, continuing with ascent to Kambreško and further to the highest point of the hike, 726 m high Čičer, followed by descent to the starting point in Ročinj. Part of the route will go along old, abandoned paths no longer in use, we will clean them for the hike.

That's how it was today. A nice number of us gathered. The ascent went on a different path than planned. Because of the muddy path. We had a good time. nasmeh The watch showed about 17 km of walking.

14th Hike to Čičer above Ročinj on cultural day
(8.2.2026)
On Slovenian cultural holiday hikers from all over set out on the 14th Hike to Čičer above Ročinj. Despite somewhat demanding conditions, abundant rain before the event didn't stop us, which soaked the terrain and required changing the original route.
Since hikers' safety is always first, organizers had to adapt the route to conditions. This year's hike thus went less on forest paths and more on roads, slightly lengthening the route. Total about 16 km walked, but good mood and pleasant company made the distance pass quickly.
In Ročinj a colorful and warm group of hikers gathered. Besides locals, PD Celje-Matica, CAF Ljubljana members participated, and our regular esteemed friends from Benečija – CAI Val Natisone hikers. Also from Goriška Brda, Velenje, Logatec, Trbovlje, Postojna...
Such diverse and numerous participation delights us, showing the Čičer hike has outgrown local frameworks and become recognizable and popular wider. The event confirms hiking connects people, places and cultures, and cultural day can be spent actively in nature and good company.
On this occasion sincere thanks to all participants who joined us from near and far. Thanks also to all individuals and collaborators who contributed to successful and safe event. Special big thanks to Lukčevi farm – Samo and Ivana – and their helpers Veselko and Sandi, who with excellent culinary refreshment ensured we ended the hike in the best way.
See you at 15th Hike to Čičer on February 7, 2027, on the route planned this year.

A short time ago I was on Čičer and must say the path is wonderful and views incredible. There is still some snow in places, so recommend good footwear and poles.
