From PD Škofja Loka I spent two days in the Dolomites. We drove of course through the Karawanks Tunnel - through Austria along the Drava River and arrived in Italy - South Tyrol - German-speaking part - Austrian or German minority lives here. Our starting point was Compatsch-1844m. This is a strongly developed mid-mountain area with way too many hotels, inns, apartment houses. Here in winter there are nicely groomed ski slopes. On pastures or meadows they graze and mow. They have a quad chairlift that takes you quite high. Now path under feet and across the marshy meadow we went steeply uphill to the hotel below our peak. To the hotel it's about two and a half hours' walk. They reach the hotel via mountain road with a jeep, so no supply issues. This was our starting point for the summit Cima di Terrarossa -2655m. Up leads ferrata Maximilian rated A/B. It's an excellent easy ferrata, of course requiring full gear - helmet, harness and climbing gloves. Only one section of the via ferrata is a bit tricky. Traversing the entire ridge to the mountain summit is interesting, varied. To the summit we need about two and a half hours, then another hour and a half for descent. Great views far around the Dolomites. Then just a pleasant descent to the hotel, which is right at the start of the ascent. The hotel is pleasant. It's new or renovated. Accommodation is nice. For half-board you pay in dorms - 45 euros, in four-bed room 50 euros. Breakfast is self-service - excellent. Dinner menus unfortunately I can't praise - meals are very small - salad, starter (soup or macaroni in various ways) main course (goulash etc.) for dessert you get a small slice of some pastry (strudel). Beer is excellent - light on tap - 5 euros. You can even shower - 5 minutes - 3 euros. Lots of tourists - looked like 100% occupancy. Of course we booked half-board for one day in advance. We had a pleasant day. Quite tired we went to bed early.

Pictures to follow late evening or tomorrow morning.
