In Rušev Graben in the PP4 area, I found a nice specimen of a museum climbing hammer, together with a carabiner on which JOCO is written, and a piton connected with a string. Maybe the owner is still somewhere....?...probably it would be a dear memory for him.

It seems to me that this find is really something extraordinary. Something didn't go well for the owner of this set, something surprised him. What happened to him? I would estimate that such gear is about 40 years old. Am I wrong?

Something like that, nothing more for sure. So the museum is out, the finder should keep it as a memento.

Such Cassin carabiners and hammers we smuggled from Trieste around 1976, the piton is a Jeseničan first series, from 1 mm thicker sheet metal than later ones! At that time all personal hardware was stamped, because it was quite expensive! Does anyone know Balanta, I would be quite surprised......

Oops, I went to look at my old pitons, and I'm no longer quite sure that it's a Jeseničan, pardon...

Put a new handle on the hammer, throw the rest in the trash.

This peg is still usable, I'd trust it in the wall just like that .... actually you find such ones in walls as many as you want ...

If you're taking them to the museum, drop by me. I'll give you some of those Cassin karabiners along.

True, there are plenty of these pegs in the mountains, you find them wherever you want, just have to climb a bit and lean over the edge of the precipice.

We have to be careful with these old pegs. From outside (ear) they look good, in the cracks, inside, some are already very corroded. It's recommended to check each one individually. It happened to me that I wanted to clip it, but I touched it with my hand first, and it stayed in my hand.

I agree, Drago, but those are a bit more rusty than this one in the picture ... of course before clipping you have to check every peg, even the one you hammered into the wall yourself ...

Well, not necessarily; from outside it can look very solid, but the hidden part is completely eaten by rust. It doesn't hurt to "tap" it a bit with the hammer before clipping it

@SilvesterO, keep it, it might be a dear memory for someone. Someday he will knock on your door.

I don't believe it's Jocotov. He was a counterfeiter. But he lived in Šentvid above the police in the 10-storey. The hammer is OK, I have a similar one, put a new handle on it and off to the mountains with it.
