On Wednesday I climbed via Komarča to Black Lake, then continued to Komna and descended to Savica. Several hikers, including foreigners, had trouble finding the poorly marked start of the Black Lake-Komna trail.

Capraibex is right about the trail markings from Black Lake towards Komna. You need to go right along the lake shore to the other end of the lake and at the boulder turn left up the slope towards Komna. The path is clearly visible and you can't get lost. Two hours of walking afterwards on a pleasant, not exposed trail and we're at Komna.

Hi, me again inquiring about this route, via Komna.

Is the time mentioned in the descriptions correct?
Time Savica-Komna= 2h 30 min
Time Savica-Black Lake via Komna= 2h 45 min

Given that 10 minutes before the hut on Komna there's a junction for Black Lake- according to the map one would expect the path from the Black Lake junction (from Komna) to the lake itself to take longer than 25 minutes....

Thanks

The time was incorrectly written. I have corrected it.
Time Savica-Black Lake via Komna= 3h 30 min

The first few meters of the path over Komarča were without issues. Soon we encountered landslide remains that had well covered the path with thick beeches. The worst hit was the section between 700 to 1100 meters. Crossing over thick fallen beeches is not pleasant at all and somewhat dangerous frown
Higher up the path was fine. Dry all the way to the top, where the path flattens and turns into the forest (a few hundred meters before Black Lake). There suddenly about one meter of snow.
The lake rests under snow and ice. Only on the northern side, where the sun shines over Orlič, it's already melting smile
No tracks towards Komna seen, someone was pushing towards 7j.
Due to the fallen trees in the lower part of Komarča I advise against the tour for now.

I'm wondering if they've cleaned the trail at all yet. I know they clean it regularly in spring. This year there's significantly more work due to fallen trees.

Every year I go at least once via Komarča at least to Black Lake, or straight to Komna or to the Triglav Lakes valley. Yesterday I took advantage of the nice weather when we were two days in Ukanc and went to check out Komarča and Black Lake, because on Saturday it rained desperately and it wasn't possible. The trail has dried quite well. There were many hikers.
Start on the beautiful footpath from beautiful Ukanc. To the marked signs for Black Lake, about 45 minutes of walking.1
First, I go to see this little bridge at Savica.2
I love the play of water - I always sit by the Sava Bohinjka riverbank.3
Then on the path over Komarče to Black Lake.4
Soon the secured path over Komarče begins. There are several sections of cables marked with numbers.5

We also know all the time at what altitude we are.8
We are already at the next securing point.9
From the path, view of Lake Bohinj.10
It's also beautiful from the air. Even more beautiful on the shore.11

Here is water. In drought it may dry up.14
Before the summit, a couple more cables.15

At the top of Komarče, such views of the mountains.19

Three more flowers of tura-navadna ognjica - we won't find it elsewhere than in the Bohinj area.30
Triumfettijev glavinec - we recognize it by the brown fringes.31
For the first time I also find velelistni rman.32

Yesterday we visited Black Lake. The rain that fell overnight created some streams across the trail, and also a magnificent Komarča waterfall. Otherwise the trail is without features.
Snow starts at the top, on the flat through the forest, right before Black Lake.
Black Lake's water level is very high. All boulders we usually photograph from are underwater, as well as the debris.
We continued to Orlič towards Komna. Part of the trail is under snow, probably the same further to Komna.
Below Orlič a nice view opens to the western part of Bohinj Valley and the Tolmin-Bohinj Mountains ridge. Nice view also to neighboring Rigelj on the opposite side of Black Lake.
Down the same trail. Only now we met a couple of hikers, otherwise we had the tour to ourselves, which is impossible in summer.

We arrived at the parking for Savica Waterfall a couple of minutes after 6 and the ticket collector hadn't started work yet.
The trail via Komarča is fine, dry and snow-free. Snow starts in the forest a few meters before Black Lake. At the lake we admired floating ice floes, which were in nice contrast to the clear, turquoise water. We continued to nearby Orlič (south of Black Lake). Actually there's a trail to it that continues towards Komna. But it was almost all under snow. To Orlič you climb left when you reach the edge above Komarča.
Back to the lake, snack and return the way we came.
Nice trip in clear weather.
