Does anyone have experience attaching a snowboard to the Deuter Guide 35+ backpack? A picture would be very welcome LP

On the Deuter Guide 35 it's harder to attach the board; it needs extra straps. Now this backpack has an upgraded variant for helmet attachment. Otherwise check the Deuter Freeride and Freeride+ models, which are excellent and proven quality. If something doesn't "fit" at Deuter, the company immediately replaces the backpack with a new one. I currently have the winter Mammut 45+ and will switch to Deuter right away upon replacement, because Mammut has several technical flaws (foam straps and back freeze when soaked, breathable material). Don't know about the completely new renovated Mammut models, but they are very expensive too.

I have the Guide 45+ and install the board up there with two 50 straps and clips (one side carabiner, other clip). The thing is quite practical and quick to set up. Only I'm not sure if my ice axe occasionally scratches the board (it's already so worn I don't see new scratches ) For winter I recommend 45+. It still compresses quite a bit if needed and has a side access pocket (cool when board on top) and possibly a separate bottom pocket (35 doesn't have this option). If buying it just for boarding, probably better to take a real boarder one. I'm excellently satisfied with it for my combined use and wouldn't trade it for anything else!!! Lp

I'd carry the board more occasionally - here and there some tour. I was looking at using the upper straps for attaching skis up top - if you unbuckle both and stretch them, they buckle nicely at the back (one side has male, the other female part) and it looks ideal for board. Given it's meant for attaching skis, strap load capacity (webbing) probably isn't questionable. Below I'd use an additional strap and that's it. I'd thread it through the lower ski straps. Boarder backpacks are OK for freeride, but for the rest they seem less useful to me. Especially for summer tours. The new guide35+ also has side zipper access. What mainly concerns me is the load capacity of the upper ski straps - if they hold the board. LP

On the old backpack I attached it like that and it was OK. If you'll use it in summer too, d.guide is a super choice. Just check the size... Lp

Jaša, but you had 35+ before. No panic about the size, it even seems a bit too big to me, to be honest. The 35+ is similar to 45+ just one row fewer straps for compressing the pack or for skis on the side (and no separate compartment, but that's not essential here). You probably tie to those two straps. I'll tie to the upper one which is load-bearing, and add one additional connection below for stabilization. PS. Regarding oponkovem, what is kavbojc? LP

I had a much cheaper one and they held... so on Deuter they should hold even better. In that style, just with a slightly longer strap. Plenty of room for improvisation... so no fear. Maybe your male/female variant is even better for the top, bottom then strap between ski holders. Lp

Yes, exactly something like that I imagined. Thanks for the help. LP

I use Mammut Nirvana pro 35l and so far I'm the most satisfied. Before I used all kinds of straps for attachment, transverse attachment through shoulder straps... If you're looking for a backpack for boarding and day tours I recommend it.. http://www.iglusport.si/nahrbtnik-nirvana-pro-35 At first I thought it would be too small, but it works, just need to pack it thoughtfully. I always take boots, 2 ice axes, crampons, helmet, spare shirt, food and drink, jacket I tie to upper strap for board. Lp

I'd buy such a backpack if I did more tour boarding. I already have Guide 35+ and I think it'll be OK for occasional board carrying. For classic hills it's great. If I see that there's quite a bit more boarding then it's no big deal to buy something special for the board. LP
