Dovška doesn't require much, 20-30 cm of snow is enough for her and she's ready. Already bare from the highway she shows off and displays her white curves. Perfect for the first ski run And I successfully tested my homemade splitboard! http://youtu.be/_qB7hDQMWU0

Interesting idea, but for up you normally stick on skins.

For uphill skins, yeah. They are already available asymmetrically shaped and a bit wider for splitboards. In the picture I was preparing them to cut them to the shape of the board.

I'm wondering from which starting point it's best to start here if you want to board all the way down. Somehow I got from the descriptions that all three described paths meet somewhere, but I'd rather ask anyway, because tomorrow looks like a very nice day and we were thinking of going to check if anything can be ridden

Hi! Where did you buy G3 skins and how much did they cost? I'm buying wide skins but can't find anywhere wide enough (120-150mm width).

A bit late but anyway - start is Dovje, or up road as far as possible. Skins bought at www.splitboards.eu First got from Blue Tomato but they sent ski ones and turned out they have no splitboard skins although listed on site. Returned them and got money back. Blue Tomato good price cuz over 100€ free shipping and internet "coupons" for extra percent off.

that last fallen tree made the path dangerous for slipping.

True, and more might still come flying down.

The Karavanke have quite a few Babs, among the nicest Dovška certainly belongs, at least regarding the view, if not already the approach. With colleague S.Zarnik we started somewhat higher than the Kamne camp, first on the forest road then on the path directly to the panoramic peak. In chatting pace and endless photographing it took approx. 1.20h of walking, which isn't bad for two old farts. At the top we admired the view for a couple minutes among a host of other hikers (btw. Jalovec isn't visible from the top. Spik covers it. But Spik is NOT Jalovec, many hikers, esp. Sunday ones, confuse these two mountains, even singly. Today too one hiker at the top vehemently claimed to see Jalovec. But he was the only one in the crowd with the gift of such vision!). In short: We descended via the wonderful panoramic path over sedlo Mlinca. Most likely pointless to write that on return cold beer flowed in streams (or rather in a few mugs). Altogether 14km with 1225 m+, for which we used a solid 2h.
