On Monday my friend and I drove to Rudno polje and did a ski tour to Draški ridge. With some luck and ingenuity we skied up through the forest into the small valley between the valleys below Kačji rob and Mali Selišnik and after exiting the valley walked among the hillocks and valleys below Draški ridge. We climbed to the ridge, to Vrh Draškega roba this time due to wind and bare slope we didn't go. We skied down the ascent path.

On New Year's Eve my friend and I ascended from Rudno polje to Vrh Draškega roba. Snow of all kinds, skiing great, weather despite bad forecast sunny with some fog, in short excellent tour to say goodbye to the old year. More will be posted at noon on:

This winter is not generous with snow, which is noticeable also in the forests on Pokljuka. Yesterday we ascended from Rudno polje to Vrh Draškega roba via very steep slopes above the forest road, where the snow was powder, wind-blown, hard and brittle crust. From the top we skied into the cirque below Viševnik, ascended to Kačji rob and through the branches of dwarf pines to Zlate vode. The gully is well filled with snow, so with slipping and turning we skied to the ski slope area, where there is hardly any snow. We skied to the barracks and walked the last meters to the car, where we finished a nice circular tour.

Last year I wrote that winter is not generous with snow. This one even less, but luckily there is still enough snow for some turns. On Viševnik ski resort snow melts quickly and is full of holes, the gully to Zlate vode offers a bit more snow, which increases a little with altitude but not enough for the dwarf pines to be covered. Viševnik shoulder and Srenjski pass had many ski enthusiasts, we however broke trail to Vrh Draškega roba and skied down the ascent path. Unfortunately can't completely avoid scratches on skis.

To check on the larches, yesterday we went over Kačji rob to Draški ridge. Fog all day at altitudes between 1700 and 1800m. Accordingly muddy and slippery path. Larches already getting golden yellow color. Otherwise completely clear day above the stubborn fog.
