With my boyfriend we're planning a mountain vacation for this summer. For hiking we'd take 5-7 days and need advice how to divide the tours so that we sleep somewhere different each day and end up at the same starting point. Paths shouldn't be too difficult. Thanks, Katja

I recommend starting in Bohinjska Bistrica and ascent to Črni prst. Second day to Komna, Third day from Komna to Krn, Fourth day Krn - Triglav Lakes. Then depending on how much time you have, you can descend to the valley or extend the route to Triglav which takes you another one or two days.

Dare I suggest a proven approach to planning such a tour, especially if you are more or less beginners?! First buy the Julian Alps guide (Tina Mihelič), which contains answers to practically all important questions. The investment is definitely good, as the current price (published on PZS website) is just over 17 euros, comparable to last year's overnight price for one person in a room (5+ beds) in a I. category hut. If you add a suitable map with marked trails, preparations are done. Assuming fitness is not a problem, you can easily put together a tour as desired, of course with the help of the map and times (hours needed), which are attached to a really quality and objective description of the path in the guide. Once you've done that, you can still ask something specific on this and some other hiking forums, as the only real advantage of web info over guidebook (book) is that they are up-to-date - describing current conditions of a certain path we intend; big drawback is unverifiability and anonymity (usually) of web advice givers.

Otherwise I basically agree with the predecessor: getting to know the eastern part of Julian Alps usually starts with trips 'around' Lake Bohinj, around Krn, through the Valley of Triglav Lakes and of course closer around Triglav, which irresistibly attracts us all at the beginning of hiking. Such approach is especially recommended because most connections between listed areas can be done on relatively easy paths, yet get a rough insight into unimaginable richness of options.

Happy tour planning and safe journey! nasmeh

Or you can go from Krma over Deblo peč to Blejska koča, overnight there. Continue over Mrežce and Viševnik to Vodnikov dom. Third day Planika, Triglav, Dolič. Fourth day Kanjavec and then descent into the 7-J valley. Sleep at Dvojno jezero.
5th day Tičarica and descent to planina pri Jezeru. 6th day walk through fužinske planine to Vodnikov dom. And 7th day descent to Krma.
Approximate walking times per day 5,7,6,5,4,5,3h
