Even with us, who are distant from the fire, the smell of smoke was felt all night. In the evening, when I was returning home, Volčja Draga was wrapped in grayness. Dornberk too. Only in Branik was it a bit better. And the Ajdovski end was in the grayness of smoke.

Hard to describe what happened today. From the morning smoke was rising in many places under Cerje and advancing very slowly eastwards. But real hell started around 14h when the westerly wind picked up. Pines there exploded, slopes of Fajti Hill and Veliki vrh were engulfed in flames in just half an hour and already roaring like a waterfall eastwards. Detonations every 5-10 min. In 60 years I've seen many fires but nothing so horrific

The sun was then so visible here with us who are distant. Towards the Ajdovščina end it was all gray. The day before after 12 o'clock the smoke came to us too. Pieces of ash were flying in the air. Later it calmed down a bit.

The same was yesterday evening here with us, the sun turned red 50 km as the crow flies. It also started to stink and it became foggy in the hills. Darinka is a good 10 km as the crow flies away.

I don't know the air distance to Logatec (by road about 90 km), but on Thursday and Friday in the late afternoon hours one could smell smoke in the air, ash was swirling and the sun was, what can I say...
It was noticeable in the temperature, as it quickly dropped a couple of degrees C.
