Hello! I'm interested in something about resting on ferratas. What is best to use for resting (slings, carabiners,...)? And how to use the thing properly If someone can tell a bit more about it, I'm quite new to these things.. Thanks, LP!

Just sit down on the rock ..a bit of a joke.. Probably an extra cordelette would help you most..but you don't learn such things on a forum how to use them. But here it's no joke..

Haha I didn't mean that kind of use I'm interested in how to assemble it most safely... I looked at a climbing sling about 60cm and an HMS carabiner?

Apparently we misunderstood... I've already climbed ferratas like Lavamund, Železna kapla, Gonžarjeva peč,... also climbing walls on Brana, Ojstrica and some other Kamniks... but I've never used a resting kit, so I asked what you use, as I'm new to these things...

What is a resting kit? If you mean some system for resting in a ferrata, I use a daisy chain, which allows you to shorten the length as needed, but you need to watch that on verticals the attachment is at the peg-cable joint, on traverses it doesn't matter. Another option is to have a short sling ready (60 or 90 cm gives half, i.e. 30 or respectively 45 cm) and on it a carabiner to clip in short and rest (you can make it from a loop, loop strength is about 600 kg for 6mm, slings carry 2200 kg). Once someone wrote about using a prusik, but I'm not sure about putting a prusik on a vertical cable, and the problem with prusik is that you need at least one hand to set it up if you're skilled, otherwise both, whereas with daisy chain or sling you clip in with one hand, holding on with the other. And it works, I've climbed many demanding ferratas, and I also use it for taking photos. I don't know any third system, and if there is one, I'm interested too. Regards and stay safe on ferratas...

Any sling sold in mountaineering shops with proper certs, most often 60 cm tied with cowboy knot to main loop on harness, other end regular carabiner to clip to cable and rest. Can be screwgate carabiner too, but not required as always additionally secured by self-belay kit.
