Hello. I have 6 and 8 year old children who really like going to the mountains. What and how much should they eat on hiking tours about 2 hours one way? Sara

my girls (4, 8 and 10) can do 2 hours without problem and only get a bigger snack at the top. of course we have breakfast before the tour. for energy and encouragement on a bit more demanding tours we have dried fruit, oranges or frutabela at hand, which they can eat also on shorter stops. lots of joy in the mountains already, špela

Thanks, I was mainly interested in those small stops. I give them a banana or a piece of chocolate but a passing-by gentleman told me that you shouldn't eat during the ascent because the stomach can have digestion problems.
