1.1.2022 to the end of the forest road below Polovnik (cca 920 m)

On the first day of the year I like to head out on an easier tour. With the sole goal of breathing fresh air and "nourishing" my soul with views and the beauty of nature.
Every day I watch the "zig-zag" below Polovnik and in winter I haven't been to the end yet...
Start of the hike on the middle plateau of the former ski area. From temperatures near zero I reached "warm lands" in less than 100 m of elevation. There was a strong inversion, but the hike was quite pleasant despite lack of sun...
Views super - as always winking

Nice nasmeh but from the end of the road, is there also some trail up towards the ridge?

Thanks, Primož.
From the end of the road no obvious path goes, at least I didn't spot it last year. But the continuation of the road is already marked...

From the road turnaround we go directly towards the Polovnik ridge. It's quite steep, but not hard to orient. We have to watch out for fallen and leaf-covered tree branches. In summer though thank God no ticks here... It would be great if they extended the road to the top...

You're right, padez, "diretissima" is still the best choice.
Otherwise it would be nice in its own way if one could walk up the road to the ridge. mežikanje But in my opinion that's not the investors' goal, but rather to facilitate transport from the rich forests under Polovnik.

Yes, the goal is forest use. But it's true that the higher the road is routed, the easier the access to the ridge. Polovnik is very nice and panoramic, unfortunately all approaches are very long and Bovec, which boasts about tourism, could take better care at least to mark the starting point of some mule track that would greatly facilitate access.

On Friday under full moon to Polica above Čezsoča.

A pleasant walk "after work". I timed the start so that night catches me at the goal. winking Mainly to take some evening shots. Nice addition was the rising full moon.
I spent quite some time at the goal, photographing, enjoying silence, hot tea and magical moments.
Because in the end it's the pictures, impressions that stay in memory. Those captured with photo gear are just better or worse approximations...

boštjanko, do you have maybe some more precise info or coordinates, perhaps on google maps, where to park the car without bothering anyone, and go to the end of this road and further to the Polovnik ridge. I have an idea to climb up to ŽPolovnik here, traverse it and descend via Krasji vrh and Debeljak to Predolino and down Slatenik valley back to Čezsoča. best regards Matjaž

Matjaž, usually I leave the car at the bend, before the barrier. It's often open and you could go another km or so... But the road is built for timber use. And stuff happens along it and on it occasionally...
Bold plans smile

Best

boštjanko, thanks, I think I've been there at the barrier, if I'm not mistaken you drive past some weekend houses and keep more to the right on the road and past the abandoned ski area, after that soon from the right bend the barrier, hope I was at the right place. If that's it, then I know where it goes. Thanks!

I wandered this road last May, but I'm curious, boštjanko, if you know where the path leads that at some point goes above the road to the left, I think there's also a cairn there?

Let me interrupt. That path to the left (there's also a small pile of stones) leads to a concrete bunker under the Polovnik wall. Nearby starts a poorly visible hunting path (marked with faded red paint too), which takes us steeply up to the Polovnik ridge and Dolec pasture. But this path is very poorly visible, extremely hard to follow and very steep. Lower down the asphalt towards Log Čezsoški there's also the start of a mule track, but it's not easy to find.
We discover this mule track earlier from above on the Polovnik ridge. I don't understand why they don't mark its start by the road
We really are doing some "bush" tourism...

Exactly so, smatjaz. No problem.
Thanks padez for answering instead of me.
I agree that many forgotten paths in Bovec area could be revived before they are completely abandoned. Maybe someone reads us and listens...smile

On Sunday to Polica and Peščenk for views and autumn colors.smile

The July storm caused real devastation in this area. I hoped for new views, as it cleared a strip in the previously dense forest in the upper part of the road. I deliberately went on Sunday, when less chance of foresters working. Actually in the last part there's quite a big worksite with mobile cable crane. And judging by the huge piles of wood in the lower part of the path, foresters aren't resting...
