Today I ascended Frdamane police through Kačji graben.

On Friday to Frdamane polices via Kačji graben. Early enough start from Hotel Erika allowed me to hike almost the entire ascent in shade, which is very useful in these hot days - mainly less tiring..
Marked path through the ravine is without problems, ignoring steepness, of course.. nasmeh

I follow this path to "sharp right turn" under Špik buttress, where I head left across scree to notch between Špik and Frdamane polices. Despite pathless, little trail visible (from afar), cairns ease orientation. After ascent over scree and short gully to ridge and view to Martuljek side, continue first left of ridge (scree, grass), then on ridge itself to forepeak, soon main summit of Frdamane polices. Ridge path fairly well cairned, some scrambling needed (mostly crumbly), crossing exposed ledges watch loose rocks, lots of them.
From summit nice view of Špik wall, surrounding - and distant - Julians, western Karavanke, Austrian Alps... Kranjska Gora not visible from main summit, northern peak of Polices in way, access via deeper notch, saved it for next time nasmeh

Return to marked path needs even more focus in crumbly terrain.
Along path on scree below Frdamane polices saw large chamois herd, also kids bleating like domestic goats nasmeh

Pleasant walk in the shade, the panorama is becoming pointy :-)

On Friday 21.9.2018
Starting point of long and demanding tour to double-headed Frdamane polices (2284 m and 2274 m) and Špik (2472 m) was Velika Pišnica (near Planina V Klinu - approx. 900 m). Through Kačji graben we ascended to col between Špik and Frdamane polices, where rare cairns directed us to summit of Frdamane polices. To first summit we scramble some larger rock steps and along ridge to highest point of first (SE) summit Frdamane polices (2284 m). From main summit path descends to col (scrambling up to grade II), from there along ridge to second (NW) summit Frdamane polices (2274 m), about 20 min from highest. Also to western forepeak, slightly lower than second summit. Return same way - to end of Kačji graben - then up steep scree towards Špik (2472 m) and after 6.5 hours reach its summit. Descent via Lipnica (2418 m) past Gamsova špica (1931 m) and Koča v Krnici (1118 m), after 10 hours back to start. Ascent total 1800 m. nasmeh

Penultimate day of old year we went to Frdamane police. velik

Nice peak with even better views and comfy descent! Lack of snow made top 100m pleasantly varied...

Afternoon ascent. A bit past 2nd turn I started, first descent then up scree gully to waterfall. There joined marked path. ...above boulder turned left into gully and via ledges to summit Frdamane polices. Also to far western summit, there were sheep too. And back same way.

No pencil in summit log, so take one. Entries not related to visit count anyway, many don't sign.

Nice tour. Yesterday weather 10/10. Visibility excellent, temps pleasant.
Most annoying part descent in forest over "slippery" and "greasy" rocks.
Unfortunately marred by all-day chopper farting towards Vršič.

Do the Kranjska Gora people also have their own grandpa (right)?

Back there, Tone rolled up his „sleeves“.

From down there came the noise of (un)civilization.

Ha ha, only 'Rokavček' was too short to show up. nasmeh

But both peaks (Škrlatica, Dolkova špica) well visible from western summit of Frdamane police, though 10m lower.

Today from Krnica via Lipnica in early morning cool over Špik to Frdamane police.
Weather - fog till noon, so return via Kačji graben already quite heated.
Partly purpose to replace summit log with new one. Someone left it out two years ago and it hasn't dried since.. (Pity) mrk
