Great mountaineers; a little for sharpening the brains or reviving memories – who guesses where I was on Friday? Hearts, but no whispering

Bullseye!!! beautiful view, not beautiful, magnificent; but I have to say we got lost 4x on the path from Jamnik to Vodiška planina; they say it's a 1-1.30 hours walk, we're not exactly slow, but after 2.30 hours we were still wandering Jelovica; we didn't find it – markings are extremely bad, if any; one way mountain marking – red, few meters ahead opposite direction green triangle; for a newbie real maze of paths; saw on internet "Zaplana" they'll fix the path, but it looks bad,

It feels kinda good that with my friend we weren't the worst pathfinders. Last year we went from Kropa to Vodiška planina, from there to Jamnik and descent back to Kropa. Nice loop tour, only from Vodiška planina to Jamnik we searched over 3 hours and by miracle found the "Gorenjska balcony". For outsiders quite misleading sign at Vodiška, since if you get lost on Jelovica...

lj, admit it's a shame there are no markings, because otherwise it's a nice and interesting path; tell me, is it nice at Vodiška planina and how long did you take from Kropa to Vodiška? thanks

I agree, apart from orientation issues it's a very nice circular tour. At Vodiška planina there is a very pleasant hut and location, we'll surely return. How long we walked or "searched" from Vodiška to Jamnik, I don't remember exactly, it was a good 3 hours

I agree with you, from Jamnik there is really a nice view on Gorenjska, I go up there often. At Vodiška I was from Kropa and back the same way, not via Jamnik. And some pics from Jamnik from last year.

Probably it's really the Italian Vesuvius, which isn't so high, as the top measures a bit over 1300-1400m

Yes, it's the Italian Vesuvius. It is 1279m high, some sources say 1281m. Before the biggest eruption in the year 79 AD it was 2100m high. Then it buried Pompeii. The max thickness of ash, stones and lava was 31m. The Vesuvius volcano is still alive. Lp
