From Logarska Valley to the Sea!

Hello! For some time I've been planning a trip somewhere far, where the world is varied and beautiful for hikers, so my brother and I recently decided to go from Logarska Valley (where we live) to the sea ON FOOT. We made a plan, 40 km per day on not too steep paths. I'm wondering what others think about this and if maybe someone of you has done something similar?? Thanks for your opinions and thoughts :-D Best regards, Jan

Wow, demanding feat you've thought up. Maybe you could use some part of European hiking path E6 (maybe E7 too) and one of the bypasses. Check if you'll find something useful on eupoti.com and pešpoti.si. Good luck.

I knew someone from Maribor who after night shift told his buddy he wanted to go to Koper for a beer. The other was immediately up for it and they were already driving with the Fičko towards Koper for beer. Only there did he then tell him he meant the former Koper tavern in Maribor. So boldly towards the sea...

Back in 1973 four of us buddies went on foot roughly by azimuth from Prebold to Kraljevica! We stuck to side paths and trails on special tracks, over Predmeja, Kum, to Krka, over Kočevski Rog, to Kolpa, over Gorski Kotar, Lokve to the sea at Kraljevica! We carried everything ourselves, camped one night by the coast, swam and home by bus! Slept in tent, ate from cans, camped 6 times, seventh day we were at goal, near Žužemberk fled from Gypsies, near Stari Log met a bear, all got diarrhea from drinking water that wasn't of good enough quality, twice checked by police who couldn't believe the purpose of walking, no contact with parents the whole week, real adventure

Thanks robi for info. Got the map, hiking paths of Slovenia, in Austria I found it in a tobacconist. We won't do much elevation gain, better choose side paths.. Cico - spot on your trip, that's exactly what I had in mind.. 6 nights for 160 km doesn't fit my calculation??! Did you climb something in between or similar? :-)

We didn't run, in between one day because of rain we lounged on the porch of some hunting or forestry hut, didn't go by markers, also rested at Lokvar Lake because of heat most of the day, varied summer weather, everyone loaded, because of closed area we made a big detour and reached the road to Brod na Kolpi, back then still narrow, gravel! Those were totally different times, no comparison to today! The only markers I remember, when we descended from the top of a small ski slope before Kum to the south side towards Borovak PS: climbed in later years, also in your area, and with kayak from Logar, many times, and paragliding from Obleg Stone and elsewhere, still doing it now, we're not old guard to be put in the corner LP

Super, super... personally such stories and adventures are the most beautiful for me... that's exactly why I decided for this trip. Brother spends most of the day on the computer and I'd like to do this for him too. My opinion is that today in the mountains you meet only old acquaintances and people you know from some hut or common path.. Youth go less and less to the mountains, which in my view is not "cool" at all Nature offers so many beautiful things, we waste days with computers, TVs and sitting around

Bravo, Jan, you said it honestly, I wish you as many right decisions as possible in your life, hike nicely, time and some competition to be "the best" doesn't always give a good result, respect nature and people, who live there! Safe journey!!!!!

I'll go in spring from Ljubljana over Ljubelj, past Ferlach and Klagenfurt to Maria Saal. no religious meaning, but something draws me to this route that I've driven many times by car. interested if someone can advise how from Ferlach past Klagenfurt towards Maria Saal, it can be quite a detour too. The rest of the route I'll walk through pristine nature, this part worries me most, as I don't want to walk near main roads, don't want to go through center, suburbs of Klagenfurt... if anyone has a tip, I'll be grateful.
