Does anyone know the difficulty of the path from Dom Valentina Staniča to Kredarica via Kotel? Everywhere I find only the description of the path via Rž, which is marked as difficult. According to the map it seems you can get to Kredarica also "around", towards Begunjski vrh and then left to Kredarica. Thanks!

Easy, demanding in the section below Triglavski dom, marked path.

From Stanič to Kredarica the path past Kotla might be easier than the path over Rž. But of course it's also longer. We walk along Triglavske podi past quite a few hollows and in the second, upper part the path helps overcome some wire ropes and pegs. In fog we don't start on this path, as it's hard to follow. The path over Rž is shorter, in the summit part a bit crumbly, a bit exposed, but nicely secured with wire ropes and pegs. Personally I like the path over or under Rž quite a bit, maybe because you can be at Kredarica in an hour or even sooner. From the top of Kredarica towards Rž there is another older path that turns left and in the lower part via torn wire ropes and missing pegs brings us to the slope above Kotla and under Rž. I strongly advise against using this path!! Good luck

Thanks everyone! But that part with wire ropes and pegs in the upper part is similar to the path past Rž or is it a bit easier? Mainly I'm worried about exposure. And also: do you need to cross any snow (either path)?

Hi Rega, that upper part is in no way similar to the path over Rž and of course it's easier. And there's no exposure either. Just go boldly on the path. The photo I posted was taken in July 2011 and I can assure you that this year you'll hardly find any snow patch you have to cross. sirt1-I agree, otherwise I haven't seen any official closures anywhere, but the path is "trodden" and that can mislead someone. In the reply I wrote, "I strongly advise against the path" !!!! And on the photo it's noted that "the path is in very bad condition". I can only add that don't use the middle path!!! I myself descended this path a few years ago (October 2012) and there was already quite a bit of snow on it. I wanted to get to Stanič as quickly as possible, but it turned out I made a mistake. Due to insufficient cables and pegs I had to climb some sections, on the snowfield I slipped and landed in the scree and all scratched and bloody dragged myself over the snowfield to Stanič, where I licked my wounds. For my memory, for the rest of you as a warning. Good luck!

Many thanks, En-Goldy! And no worries, I certainly won't go on the middle path!

I'm reporting that I successfully walked the path from Kredarica to Stanič via Kotel, but I have to admit I didn't imagine the upper part below Kredarica so demanding. Otherwise it's wonderful, really a special world and great views of the peaks, but it drags on to the junction like a fiery snake ... I'll go to Stanič again, because it's wonderful up there. I know the path from Krma, I don't dare the very demanding path via Rž, but I'd like to try once the path from Konjski preval via Ržki podi. Does anyone know a description of this path (difficulty, terrain, walking time)? I've already searched the web, but in vain. Thanks and best mountain greetings.

From Staničeva koča to Kredarica via Reški podi I walked a few years ago, so as far as I remember it's not demanding (no pegs or cables). You need about 2 hours. Do you mean the path from Konjsko sedlo via Reški podi to Staničeva koča? About 3 hours, the path is demanding, has some chains and pegs.

Many thanks, Smetar, only now I see that I awkwardly stuck this question into the relevant forum (sorry). Yes, my question now is no longer from Kredarica, but from Konjski preval to Stanič. If I understand your answer correctly, the harder part of the path (chains and pegs) is the first part - that is the section from Konjski preval to the junction where the path crosses the path to Kredarica from Krma.

Aha, by the harder section you mean the path from Konjski preval to Kalvarija? I know that path, since I went on it to Kredarica and I like it a lot. No no, I thought that right from Konjski preval towards Ržki podi there's another path, a bit more to the right, and that's the one we're talking about. Well, if I have to go from Konjski preval first to Kalvarija, then I understand you like this: section Konjski preval - Kalvarija (which I know) is demanding, section Kalvarija - Ržki podi - Stanič (which I don't know yet) is not demanding. Thanks!

I'm interested in the conditions on the path from Prgarca to Staničeva koča and further to Kredarica. Thanks for the reply.

I was there on 24.6. From Kot. There were some snowfields then. Also from Stanič over Rž. But the snow was soft and I didn't need winter gear. I had it with me though.

Hello, are there still snow patches across Rž?

On Sunday, some small patches were still visible from Rž, but some people came through without issues and special equipment

There are still 3 snow patches under Rž, crossing is not a problem. The snow was (on Sunday) quite soft.
