This year we chose the path from Žovnek Lake to Menina Pasture for the May 1st hike(30.4). At half past five in the morning we parked below the castle and headed towards Čreta. Nice, undemanding path, with picturesque views of the lower Savinja valley and Zasavje hills(last year's tour). From the hut at Čreta we continued towards Sv. Jošt and further towards Lipa pass. From Lipa to Slopi the path is less scenic, mostly runs on forest road(we went via Slomnik, below the walls), here it opens up again. From the place Slopi we continued half an hour more on the marked path, then turned right upwards on steep slopes of Golega Hriba(Šavnice). At the top it almost blew us away, so we continued quite quickly. To the goal at the hut on Menina Pasture crocuses, daffodils and snow accompanied us. Altogether(At Biba Pasture transport was waiting for us) we collected good 28km of path in 8.5 hours, overcame a bit over 2000 elevation meters. Wonderful places, nature gently green, full of blooming trees. We went past some isolated farms, at really breathtaking locations. Only right before the end we met the first hikers, quite a few unleashed dogs, which luckily were (overly) happy for company. Entire path well marked, but lots of junctions and turnoffs, concentration needed all the time. We turned off the path three times, but quite quickly found back the right direction.
