Last Saturday in March, my friend and I with her dog visited Gače. More of a walk than a hike, during which we collected a full bag of wild garlic, we did some on the road, some through bushes and brambles, and a little on the marked trail too. Below, at the start of the ski slope, we went left on the road and when it started to descend slightly, turned right onto a poorly visible cart track into the forest. There we soon encountered wild garlic plantations, of course a lot went home with us. When the little path started to disappear, we stepped back onto the road higher up, went along it to the ski slope, then straight up the snow to the top, mainly because the dog was thrilled about it. A bit of rest, a bit of viewing the scenery, and we were already heading down. We stuck to the marked trail and picked some more wild garlic along it. It was a great day, full of memories from youth, which I spent much of in the valley under the ski slope. Might spend a few days in Črmošnjice next time and visit some nearby spots by bike, which I often did in younger years

Today we discovered Gače in its winter attire. The ski slope is operating, lots of skiers, few hikers. Sunny and warm day, little wind, wonderful views. The snow-covered Snežnik stood out most, the Julian Alps chain was visible, with Triglav reigning over them, nice also towards KSA and the snow-covered Dolenjska landscape. Really beautiful places that we'll surely visit again when it warms up and turns green.
