Gaiters

Hi,
yeah, again 1000 tips, sure Gore-Tex and Cordura are better than some quasi stuff. If using crampons, it's better if the gaiters are narrower. But you'll sweat in both things anyway, OK, they won't let moisture through..

True, Darinka, I also can't imagine without gaiters in snow even if just 5-10cm it gets right in. I also have Ferino gaiters but they are made for high boots and the bottom part keeps creeping up, that's the only problem. They have some tab for attaching yeah but that's meant for high boots to attach to the top side of the boot, on the back side still creeps up.grumpy look

These are the ones I have now, probably we have the same.

Yeah probably we have the same. They're fine for me. I attach that tab to the laces. And they have a strap too. At least snow doesn't get into boots which isn't pleasant. Yeah something's missing on the back side otherwise they'd be better. But for that price you get what you get. wink

True, everything ok just on the back side snow still gets in. I need to find some similar ones just that have a tab on the back side too to cover the boot better.

If nothing else sew a strap or loop on the back side if you have somewhere to attach it.smile

Good idea. I can attach it to the bottom of the boots where the gaiters have the strap. Thanks for the help. smile

Hello! I have some really old gaiters, the years are showing on them. I've tried new ones in sports/mountain shops, but the more new ones I try, the more I like the old ones - really nice high and not too wide (wide elastic strap under the knee + cord). They were bought at Elan in Begunje, supposedly made by someone in Kranj. Does anyone know anything about it? Maybe the company no longer exists? Thanks for any useful info.
