Due to late return home, yesterday's tour I'm posting with a slight delay. This time we chose the Giesener hut (2215m) below Hochalmspitze mountain in Gosgraben valley. The tour starts in Treffling village above Millstaetter lake. We drive on asphalted side road to Gmunda, there turn into Malte valley. We continue on wonderful bike path that runs along Malta river all the way. At Koschach village, where is also famous highest Carinthian waterfall (200m) Fellbach and ferrata next to it, turn left across Malte river and soon see signs for Gosgraben. Path at start very steeply goes straight up, which flattens after two km and so till about eight-ninth kilometer, where road again starts veeery steeply climbing and so almost holds all remaining 10 km to hut. 4.5 km below top of our goal we reach Goskarspeicher dam, where parking too. Dam is quite empty. Make short stop then bite into last part of path left to us. This was also hardest section of today's tour as cycling right below hut top very difficult. All invested effort then rewarded at top at hut, which is in wonderful location with fantastic views from Hochalmspitze, Sauleckspitze to Ritterkopf. Hut also very nicely arranged with friendly young caretakers and good service. Back on same path. This tour surely one of most beautiful but also hardest. We got 84 km and 1936 m.
