Glava za bajto (2131m) and Čelo (2228m)

The indistinct summit in the ridge between Velika Vrata saddle and Vršac (near Plaški Vogel) requires quite some effort. From Travniška dolina via the saddle between Vršak and Čelo, I visited it years ago; apparently it is also possible to approach via the gully further west of Velika Vrata; this time, however, we tackled it from Velika Vrata saddle.
Still in the dark, we parked at planina Blato. The path to Dvojno jezero and then some descent towards planina Lopučnica of course doesn't need a separate description. In Lopučnica a sign directs right to Velika Vrata saddle.
Larch forests are most beautiful at this time of year nasmeh Like everything burning zavijanje z očmi. The path is narrow, but nicely followable.
At the saddle itself we left the path. Some cairns showed the direction towards Glava za bajto. Actually there were quite a few cairns and without them the ascent would be much, much harder. Traverses go over rocky ledges, through scree, karst potholes and deep abysses where snow still lies or the bottom is not visible eek. You really have to strictly follow the cairns, otherwise trouble awaits. You need to climb only a couple of rocky ledges, which are not high.
From the summit we headed to neighboring Čelo. No difficulties, since the summit is close and well visible, and also no more scree, potholes and other nuisances.
We were also tempted by the descent to the saddle between Čelo and Vršac and maybe even to Vršac itself, but a glance at the watch reminded us to turn back. Days are sadly getting shorter.
Back the same path. At Dvojno jezero we finally caught some sun and took some photos zavijanje z očmi.
To home the path is still long ....

There are quite a few pics:

On this day from the village above Soča towards Velika Vrata to Čelo, then descent to Travniška dolina; it was one of the nicest days in the mountains, sunny, warm and windless. nasmeh

Yesterday I went from Savica via Komarča towards Velika vrata. On the way to 7J at Bela skala (right bend) I continued straight into the forest and shortened the path considerably. So I reached the Komna - 7J path, a few steps down to the junction for V. vrata. Continuing over Lopučniška planina is very annoying due to high wet grass. To V. vrata no problems after that, but up top I probably turned right too early, didn't know exactly where the gates are. Had trouble finding passages, halfway I found some cairns which soon ran out. They led me quite far right under the summit, so I had to search and correct to the top. Back similar story as I tried my own way. Overall nice tour, lots of sun, and 2 hours of rain at the end!nasmeh

On Wednesday 17.08 we headed for these two peaks. First to Glava za Bajto. Then to Čelo. But from the other end. We started below Zjabci. Two more hikers were heading to Kaluder. Marijan described the path to them as it was their first time. The path was known to us too up to the turnoff for Lanževec. We went towards Sedmera jezera. To Velika vrata. Where there's the old Rapallo border marker. Between the kingdoms of Yugoslavia and Italy. We returned back where cairns are visible all the way to the top of Glava za Bajto. Interestingly, this path is not in GPS. Anyway, it's nicely marked. In a scree world where you think you're on another planet. We had great views. Even Kanjavec was clearly visible. From that peak to Čelo it's not far anymore. Further on you don't even need cairns. We met almost no one. Since Marijan had the path drawn differently we descended that part. It looked a bit illogical. Just two cairns, otherwise you really don't know where to go. Then we safely reached the marked path again. I think all four of us were satisfied with the tour. With great views especially because it was our first time in these parts. Where silence reigns.
