Mozirje – Šmihel nad Mozirjem - Golte Golte is one of the nicer cycling classics in the Slovenian hills, which climb lovers like to repeat every year. The ascent from Mozirje is over 16 km long, compared to Kum, Krvavec, Vršič, Mangart, etc. this road is more bike-friendly, clear and wide enough, relatively shady and mostly less steep, except for the last kilometer under the saddle or intersection for Hotel Golte and Mozirska koča, where the climb gets a bit steeper and reaches 15 to 20% incline. If you arrive in Mozirje from elsewhere, it's not hard to find suitable parking in the town at some shopping center or administrative business building. If you arrived in Mozirje that way, then at the second roundabout follow the signs for Golte and Šmihel nad Mozirjem, and all other subsequent intersections are nicely and clearly marked, so no problems with orientation or finding the right direction. Somewhere in the second half of the route above Šmihel (or on the way back) it's worth seeing the church of St. Radegund (protected as a cultural heritage monument), with an exceptional interior, unfortunately due to its location on the edge of the forest it doesn't offer any views of the valley. All those who don't ride to the hill just for time, there are still quite a few points of interest along the way, well … for the real finale of the ascent you can choose: either at Hotel Golte or at Mozirska koča (shorter descent). The descent to the valley should also be done with your head and controlled speed, because if you're riding here for the first time and recklessly, a 180° bend can surprise you. Summary: medium difficult tour, also suitable for recreational cyclists, asphalt base (to the saddle between the hotel and mountain hut), from Mozirje approx. 16.5 km and around 1000 elevation gain to the hotel or 900 to the mountain hut.
