GORE-TEX XCR (need advice)

Hello everyone, I'm wondering if someone can advise me on buying a Gore-Tex XCR jacket, the problem is as follows: I can't decide whether to get a two-layer or three-layer shell. I know the difference is that two-layer consists of outer fabric and membrane, three-layer has the membrane laminated between two fabrics. I also know that two-layer usually has a zipper for attaching the thermal liner. I need the jacket for regular winter hikes in our hills, and also for climbs to three and four-thousanders. Please someone with more experience for advice on purchase, since the prices of the above jackets are very high, I don't want to regret it after buying. Thanks in advance for any replies. LPP

Are you going to do alpinism?

I'd rather say demanding mountaineering than alpinism

Then the double layer will be more than enough for you, at least according to my experience. Surely! Which model are you buying?

The two-layer is even better! It's softer, more comfortable to wear and supposedly breathes even better! The advantage of the three-layer is its lower sensitivity to mechanical damage. You won't zip the thermal liner into either one or the other - at least not in the mountains!
