We used a nice day for a hike to a lesser-known hill(ček) named Gradiše, which rises 770m above the Adriatic Sea. It lies about 3km E of Rovte, from where the trail started. Parking at the church, then on foot along the asphalt road. The path is marked in places, so it's easy to follow. Later there's a junction with three path options to the same goal. Left and right along the road, middle one, shortest, along the forest trail. This variant was chosen, on the way back the left one. We meet isolated homesteads, clusters of houses with friendly locals, tidy surroundings and nice views towards the Alps. At the top there's a bench with table, orientation hayrack and round metal plate with sky directions and distances to individual peaks, places. View reaches from Julian Alps, central Karavanks to KSA. Nice! Some snow has accumulated on most two-thousanders... Later we headed to Matjaževe chambers, which lie at the junction of Logatec, Idrija and Žirovska municipalities. It's a system of caves, chambers that served our ancestors in the Paleolithic as dwellings. First you need to ford the Sovro river, climb the slope to the cliff for ca 30m and there an incredible entrance to this stone honeycomb opens! Lantern highly recommended for viewing details and stone grooves, result of water action. From youth I remember adventures of Zvitorepec, Trdonja and Lakotnik, who in the adventure Stone Age and Prazvitorepec wandered such "rooms"... maybe Muster got inspiration here Highly recommend when you're in these parts!! Really makes WOW effect!
