In the Bohinj-Tolmin mountains chain, Gradovec at 1692 m a.s.l. is certainly not a very prominent peak. In the shadow of the higher Veliki and Mali Raskovec it is quite inconspicuous. Somehow like Liščak near Črna prst, it suffers an obvious injustice, because the views to the Bohinj side are truly wonderful Given this year's strange weather conditions (obviously heavy rain even at these altitudes) I have to mark the tour with a big exclamation mark, as the approach is currently quite demanding From Ribčev laz to the parking lot before planina Suha the road is completely dry. We drove another kilometer to the next junction. There snow started, actually more ice. We reached planina Poljana without snowshoes. Not much snow (about half a meter), but icier with height. We aimed for Gradovec via the path to Glin, but it was so icy (shady side) we abandoned it . Above Poljana we climbed to Konta Rovnik between Poljana and Gradovec. Luckily the snowshoes' teeth held well and it was ok. Konta Rovnik was pure ice again , so wife decided not to go on. I searched with snowshoes for gentlest sunny approaches to Gradovec. Last ridge to top was steep, causing me to sink into covered thickets several times . Lots of it on Gradovec, makes summer approach tough. At top enjoyed views, took pics, back same way to Poljana. Then together to car. Met noone on tour, just bear tracks Pictures: http://www.petersfoto.si/thumbnails.php?album=datebrowse&date=2014-01-12 http://www.petersfoto.si
