Hello!

My girlfriend and I are preparing for a multi-day hiking trip in the Karavanke. Your opinions would be very helpful regarding a sensible distribution of stages, especially regarding the estimated walking time.

On Google Maps the whole route is estimated at about 9 hours of walking, which seems quite optimistic to us. On the PZS website the same route is listed as 14.5 hours, but I can't figure out how much time is planned between individual points.

If anyone has experience with this route or a suggestion how to best divide it by days, we will be very grateful for any advice.

Find my post I think it's under the topic: overestimating Kosuta. From your photo I conclude that you have exactly that planned. If I'm not mistaken I needed 14 hours for this loop last year. Including all stops.

Time estimates for hiking in the hills on Google Maps are completely useless. I doubt that it even takes elevation difference into account. For the path from Aljaž's home to Triglav for example it gives an estimate of 2 hours 7 min. Otherwise Google Maps is bad for planning routes in the hills as it can suggest very strange routes and it also has very inaccurate contour lines. Mapy.com is better in all respects.

Yes, now there are different, modern times. I myself am from the older generation, for planning routes I always used guides, of which there were many. There is one for the Karavanke, for example for the Julian Alps I liked most to take the guide by Tine Mihelič - everything matched.

About 8 years ago from this, when we parked under the hut on Kofce and past the chapel reached the hut. Since we don't visit the Karavanke very often, we inquired about exactly this loop. Since they told us that we were too late for the whole tour in one day, we calmly drank coffee and started somewhere around 8:30h. And we went...we weren't exactly supersonic and we weren't exactly at snails either, but we were at the car before 17nasmeh About guides, which I also used a lot myself, just so much that you can trust Mihelič, about Karavanke-author Klinar if I'm not mistaken I wouldn't waste words, because I threw it in the trash.
