Given the conditions higher up, I decided today for a hike in the Polhograjske Hills. Best friend was very happy. This time no car, on foot from home to Jetrbenk, Rog and then past Katarina towards Grmada and Tošč. From Tošč down Via Dida, then through the valley to Legastja and again up towards Sv. Jakob. Because there was mass at 18, there was quite a crowd on the approaches to Jakob. Best friend was not thrilled with the crowd, so we decided on the saddle above Mamovec to descend to the valley. Weather conditions were a foggy winter fairy tale. Thanks for the refreshment at Tošč.

I'm kinda embarrassed to write this, but the truth is that a path through the forest starts just a few hundred meters from our home, leading to the heart of the Polhograjske Hills, and in eight years since we moved here, we haven't taken the time for it zadrega. And since the kids had "šiht" today (work Saturday at school), they went hiking, I take time for a walk too... Since my "better half" couldn't come with me, I arrange a ride in the morning at least to the village of Belica, which I take as starting point, then a long walk home... First to Polhograjska Grmada, then to Katarina, obligatory to Sveti Jakob, then to Jeterbenk, descent to Slavkov dom, to Bormes and over Dvorski hrib to our home village Dvor. The path itself isn't strenuous, but it adds up to quite a few hours over all these little hills... Along the way everything blooming and green, so the eyes rest... Sometimes you don't need to go far and high to spend a nice day in nature...nasmeh
From Belica nice forest path, which after initial steepness flattens a bit here...1
The flowering of fragrant hellebore (locally jožefovka, as a friendly lady taught me) is in full swing...2
The red pine is also flowering in full :-)3

You did a really nice little tour. And don't forget Osolnik and Tošč. Even such "little hills" fill a hiker's soul and change the air in the lungs velik nasmeh I wish you lots of enjoyment wherever you go.nasmehmežikanje

Yesterday a foggy and cloudy day didn't keep us at home. Sure, if possible we prefer a sunny day, but last week was such that we can be glad to catch a day when nothing "comes down", sun and nice views... what was that again? zavijanje z očmi

This is how we went: Ločnica Valley – Osolnik – Gontarska Planina – Tošč – Gonte – Polhograjska Grmada – Sv. Katarina (Topol) – Sv. Jakob – Ločnica Valley

In Ločnica Valley we started at the starting point for "Osolnik – circular path", from Sv. Jakob we descended to Legastje, then it was another cca. 15-20 min on the road back to the car.

We had a really good time nasmeh… and I have to say – all praise to PD Medvode for really well maintained and well marked paths.

Tošč summit... well, even from here in clear weather there's not much to see...20
Gentle snapshot at Tošč summit... yes, when there are no views, the eye notices many things...21
At the tourist farm Gonte... this really is good preparation for winter...22
Now towards Polhograjska Grmada...23

GITA, this was a nice one, not a little tour, but a real tour.nasmehmežikanje Views weather-appropriate, but that doesn't matter at all. Important is to feel good, have a good time and keep fitness, and also to see nature a bit differently.nasmeh
Nice regards and safe walking ahead.

Yes thanks to all three for the response nasmeh.
@tisa, you're right, the eye in such weather without views notices many nice little things that it might otherwise overlook...
@janna, posts are in the style of the mood that envelops me on the way home mežikanjenasmeh
@otiv, if only I had it - the discount that is...Alpina gives no discount for diligencemežikanje...they only profit from that mežikanjenasmeh, the more diligent we are, the more they make..or some other manufacturer zavijanje z očmi...and thanks for the correction...of course it's Rog...pure slip-up, I've already corrected it...nasmeh

From May 1st, buses start running again on Sundays on the route Ljubljana - Polhov Gradec - Črni Vrh (number 51) and on Ljubljana - Horjul - Šentjošt (number 56). Timetable is published on the website of Ljubljanski potniški promet - interurban buses.

Years ago the bus already ran to Črni Vrh on Sundays, but later they canceled all suburban routes on Sundays.

My husband and I often took the bus to Črni Vrh on Sundays. Sometimes from home, other times by car to Polhov Gradec, then by bus to Črni Vrh and on foot over Tošč, Gonte, Polhov Gradec. Lots of combinations.

Interesting starting point is also from Žirovnikov graben (Gabrje) to Katarina, from there wherever you want.

I write these lines because this might be useful info for someone. Spring and autumn are perfect for pleasant hikes in the Polhograjci, which are easier to circle if not tied to a starting point where you'd leave your car.

Buses will run experimentally on the route until end of 2014. If profitable, they promise to cancel them again.

Enjoyable rambling and nice regards,
Nacka

Thanks to the closure, we've discovered loads of new paths and some unknown views in the last few days.... now we're running out of goals and untraveled paths... Kamnik and Julian Alps are more in the background this time...

Nice windy day on Tuesday, just right for a beautiful tour across the Polhograjci: from Polhovo Gradec along one ravine south of Mačkovo to Mehacko, past Sveta Uršula to the Grmada ridge, to Tošč, Sveti Ožbolt and past Sveti Andrej to Škofja Loka. 21 km, 1100m elevation gain on this path. No clouds, great views, windy though, especially in Škofja Loka.
