On the highway: Maribor-Celje a little before the Golo Rebro tunnel I felt a stabbing in my soles, which was happening in the right shoe. I thought I had gotten pebbles in my shoes. Finally, I had to stop on the bridge over the Dravinja. The stabbing became unbearable. I took off my shoe and found a hard, prickly object in the shoe. I thought I had some prickly part that appeared as an anomaly from part of the sports shoe. This explanation was very illogical to me, but I only thought of that. Since with such shoes I could no longer continue, I thought I would have to call a taxi. The very next moment the saving thought came to me that I could put on Teva sandals and elegantly continue the path. I did that and continued to Loče.

All the time from Saturday to Monday I was tormented by thoughts of how such suitable shoes as Hoka one Bondi had the right shoe with such a terrible defect: some sharp object that was built into the shoe. Walking in them felt to me like walking on cushions. Blisters did not appear either.

When on Monday in the afternoon I sat on the home bench and completely untied the shoe with the laces, I went to look inside the shoe again and the prickly part still protruded as before. Then the saving thought struck me; I turned the shoe to see the outside of the sole. I spotted the head of a nail. A fairly large nail had stabbed into my shoe and penetrated to the sole and further, so it stuck out about 3 mm from the insole. Things became clear to me. The nail had planted itself into the shoe automatically, a bit at an angle, as if someone had deliberately pushed it into it. One says to oneself: "It can't be true, but it is."

I pulled the nail out of the shoe and threw it in the bin for mixed waste. But I was glad that with quality Hoka shoes there was nothing wrong. I was just a bit worried whether in wet weather water would get into the shoe through the existing hole.

These were the only consequences of this devilish nail. I was amazed that the completely rusted nail did not plant into the sole, which would certainly have been very bad. I suspected where I got it, because I had a picture in my head of when I walked past some wooden slats, next to which there were nails. Already then I said to myself: "Watch out not to step on some nail." And that is exactly what happened. It probably penetrated the shoe gradually. It seemed almost unbelievable to me that it penetrated right away. Because then I would have felt the pain immediately.
