Hrastovec 791 m a.s.l.

I browsed a bit about Hrastovec on the net and in sources and found !? practically nothing... And today for the first time and that on Shrove Sunday to the 791 meters high Hrastovec. For decades somehow always close but never yet been to the top - there was no right idea and no motivation for the approach to the top either. Very often I walk or ride a bike under it and today in the snow finally more randomly than not, yet to the top. The summit is not distinct and one of three - four points is just the highest. Today quite some snow also over half a meter and in drifts even more and judging by what was seen quite a good wind pulls during snowing and... builds drifts. Yes from the northern and eastern side it is well open for ,,snow games in nature,,.... The approach was not demanding but certainly from the southern side as seen somehow the easiest and correctly I decided today. A herd of 20 - 25 mouflons on descent crossed the slope and it was really a pleasant picture in the white snowy winter scenery of nature...

I'd say mežikanje, that the summit is rather rarely visited and even then I assume more by members of the green brotherhood, because there is no marked path to it. Starting point was Studenice...

Route track:Hrastovec 791m a.s.l., 19.02.2012

mežikanjeRunners, hikers, mountaineers, cyclists... are certainly active below it as the shortest marked path between Boč and Donačka gora crosses it from the north side and on the south side forest road by the church of Sv. Marjeta. It is located in the wider area of Boč specifically in the direction towards Plešivec.

This afternoon again hiking to the 791m high Hrastovec with neighbor and colleague from PD Poljčane Vinkot from starting Studenice. Circle around the hill and again ascent to the summit via so-called southern variant above Sv. Marjeta church. Quite some fresh snow since Sunday, which today was in the drier - northern variant and it was pleasant to hike today in sunny weather - often also in T-shirt as far as the late afternoon sun rays still reached on the northern slopes... Circle done a bit wider to the east - also the section between climbing area and hunters' hut Rogaška Slatina but that is still around the 791m high Hrastovec.

Route track:Hrastovec, 21.02.2012

There are still many hills which of course also have geographical names - in the wider area between Boč and Plešivec where hiking - mountaineering steps rarely venture and perhaps that's right...

To the 791 m high Hrastovec - connecting link between higher Boč and Plešivec mainly due to Studenice connection via both parts of old Roman road - right uphill - also through Stara Drevesnica and then continuing over "studeniško-kostrivniški prag" to the summit. Descent via Anderlič, climbing area, Formila clearing and left branch of Roman road back to Studenice. First time hiking this variant, nice elevation gains, varied terrain of medium difficulty for steps... Roman roads quite "nicely clogged" with excess material. Ascent to Hrastovec via forest track and thus the path got "zigzag" shape. Studeniško-kostrivniški prag is the lowest point between Boč summit and Formila clearing on the east ridge and allows the most elegant crossing via forest track. Ideal for short afternoon training and maybe mežikanje repeat with addition for 1000 m elevation...

This afternoon to the 791m high Hrastovec between Boč and Plešivec in one of the more direct combinations. In winter I didn't ascend it as it's a temporary home for some animal species. Approach to Hrastovec today finally from the south and partly west side - above Sv. Marjeta church and also return to the valley today exceptionally same ,,track,, as the ascent - Studenice... Paths partly dry and partly muddy, pleasant temperature and some wind higher up. Interesting summit, a bit for change here and there... Signal today very poor...

Well visible from Rogaška Slatina. Target 2-3 times a year. Hiking, also by bike already done. No marked path to it. Forest track from north practically directly under summit. Not visible from Poljčane or Studenice. Today morning Boč slightly snowy above 800m as seen. Today via somewhat more direct path from Studenice. Yes on moss and tree needles directly under Hrastovec summit caught some little snow. For small still slightly winter and today holiday impression. Paths partly muddy, wet and it was windy... Return identical to ascent. Short, interesting track sufficiently pleasantly varied...
