Now, as a debate has started here and a poll on introducing mandatory registration is running at the same time (and a small polemic on photo authorship has also appeared), it seems the right time to me to publicly ask (I first thought of doing this "privately" to "info@hribi.net") what has interested me for some time: who actually "stands" behind hribi.net, who is the owner, what is the purpose of operation (primary and secondary), who moderates and their concept, who are the authors of most primary trail photoguides (I have no negative remarks!), etc., ... Well, it's quite obvious, I wished for a more complex presentation if possible, although the site's layout concept already answers most questions in general. And so I don't get misunderstood by chance: the work done collecting general mountaineering information published on this site (trail photoguides, panoramas, thematically collected photos, ..., GPS track posts - I have minor concerns here) deserves recognition!

Of course I allow the possibility that all my questions have already been answered sometime, but since there is no "general searcher" or I can't find it, I don't know how to find the answers myself, and I have no time for sequential reading of contribution history ...

Thanks in advance for the answers!

Best, Rakar

The owner of the websites is Geodetic Bureau Ema Huth d.o.o.
The main purpose is, as you've probably figured out yourselves, to gather as much mountaineering info as possible, to more easily decide where and when to the hills. We want all mountain lovers to find desired info on the sites, both those going on short trips and those interested in long and demanding tours.

As for the contents on the sites, we try to adapt them as much as possible to users' wishes. Most sections on Hribi.net were suggested by the users themselves.
We're still open to any new suggestions.
In the near future we'll introduce mandatory login and searching forum contents.

Most descriptions are made by some mountain enthusiasts who do mountaineering just as hobbyists. Some are also sent by other users.

No harm if I repeat: so far you've done substantial work!

Once again thanks for the answers.

LP to all website editors. In the past I already wrote that it might be good to introduce a section "With children to the mountains" or something similar. I myself have three small enthusiastic hikers and a wife who supports me in this. I think there are quite a few female hikers, mountaineers,.. who would join my opinion. Maybe think a bit in that direction. Otherwise full respect for deciding on such a project. It's super to me. Lots of satisfaction in the future. LP Andrej

Today we had some issues with the database and unfortunately some messages posted on the forum in the last three days got lost.
Thanks for understanding.

I agree with Andrej, such a section would come in handy for us parents of little hill climbers. My wife and I got many ideas from the book "With children to the mountains". Great stuffnasmeh

The site is great. Much better than that of the Mountaineering Association, but I miss more info from Austria and Italy (path descriptions)!

I'm interested where and how I can add or to whom to send e.g. photos (ruševec) - actually where and how I can add them.
Thanks for the answer - the website is super in my opinion, maybe missing "SEARCH" option

You have an option that allows SEARCHING by
- FORUM
- AUTHOR
- KEY WORDS
So it's not under the word SEARCH but SEARCHING!

While exploring a side trail on Pohorje (on return from Jezerski vrh 25/05).
I also photographed it and fled from it - you can't believe - really unique and unrepeatable experience.
My wife and I were "totally freaked".

This is not such a rare occurrence, but this bird is called capercaillie, Ruševec is something completely different.

In the animals section, for brook trout instead of brown trout (salmo trutta fario - native, local) there is a picture of two rainbows (Salmo gairdnerii Richardson or also Salmo irideus Gibbons - American, Californian ..). More for a joke than seriously, but what is written here holds true nasmeh

Well, to be completely correct .. A few years ago they removed the naming for the fish in the picture according to the above-mentioned Latin names and now call the fish Oncorhynchus mykiss.

When I skimmed the current list of mountains in the Julian Alps, I already roughly doubted the number of peaks over 2500 m. Of course quite a few are missing, like Rakova špica 2550 m (in the Škrlatica ridge), Mali oltar 2520 m and Mala Ponca 2502 m (Martuljška group), maybe there's more, e.g. Sz forepeak of Jalovec cca. 2570 m.
