Hruški vrh, Dovška Baba, Klek, Golica

17.10. we decided to hike part of the Karawanks ridge. We started at Planina pod Golico, continued to Jeseniška planina, Rožca, Hruški vrh and Dovška Baba. Then we turned around, climbed back up to Hruški vrh and Klek, descended to Jekljevo sedlo and made the last ascent to Golica and then descended from Golica via the usual path to the tour's starting point and circled the whole thing.
True that there are no high mountains on the path, but the trail is varied, with beautiful views of our snow-covered Julian Alps and Austria and Karawanks. The tour is especially beautiful now, when nature is full of various color shades that take your breath away. The path is well marked and mostly follows the border ridge, so no problem with that. Technically not demanding, but over the whole tour around 1600m of elevation gain or even more accumulates.

Yesterday in good company I traveled a large part of this path, views unfortunately somewhat impaired, logistical tangle at tour end probably already happened to some readers. First time for me and hope last. More

Yesterday a wonderful journey from Golica to Dovška Baba. I started at Križovcu, where the road is nicely drivable, and ended in Dovje. Winter gear no longer needed. On variety and beauty of path more at link

Edina - nice tour and nice description as usual. And question: is there still any snow on path from Rožca saddle over Hruški vrh and Dovška Baba to Dovje?

Janez, there's still quite some snow on the path, but nowhere does it pose an obstacle. Most of it is on Rožca towards Hruški vrh, much less on the ridge towards Baba. I was worried about the gullies on the eastern side of Klek and had winter gear with me. Didn't need it mežikanje

Pok luka, I caught up with you and offered you a ride to Križovec, otherwise I didn't meet anyone all day. Where were you heading, since you weren't behind me?

A good eight hours with a fairly long stop at Hruški vrh. I don't walk fast, I spend a lot of time photographing and enjoying the views.

actually we didn't even have a goal, because after injury and more than half a year of inactivity I'm slowly returning to my beloved mountain world, we said we'll go as far as we can, in the end it was the hut on Golica then along the ridge, if I'm not mistaken over Krvavka and Mala Golica back to sedlo Suha and over Pusti rovt back to Pristava. Yeah we noticed the car also on the way back and wouldn't refuse a ride offer velik nasmeh

We also didn't meet anyone to Golica and back. Of course safe steps on the paths nasmeh

Although (again velik nasmeh

) somewhat late start, it turned out in the end that it wasn't late after all. Started at "Korlnov rov", at the cargo cableway continued on the winter path to the already closed hut to the top of Golica. Quite a few gathered at the top. Continued along the ridge to Jeklovo sedlo, there I waver "should I - shouldn't I, should I - shouldn't I... Well, in the end I decide to go to Klek too. First on marked, then I turn my own way to the ridge, since the marked path goes past the summit to sedlo Rožca and further.. Short stop at the top again, then return along the ridge, from border stone to border stone, until suddenly I reach impassable bushes. I slide along the clearly visible path under the bushes, almost on my knees to the extensive steep meadows on the marked path where I walked before. On some shady sections the path was still frozen in the afternoon eek

. When the path flattens before the saddle, I occasionally sank into deep mud covered with leaves eek

. And this on the ridge itself, where I'd expect water to drain. At the saddle I turn slightly right to the marked path towards the hut under Golica, which I just bypass and descend on the usual path to the starting point. Oh, no time left for Dovška Baba and Hruški vrh jezik

On Tuesday 06.07.2021 I planned a circular route that looked like this. Start at P for Španov vrh, towards Jeseniška planina and then to sedlo Rožca. From the saddle along the ridge to Hruški vrh and then to Dovška Baba. From Dovška Baba descent to planina Dovška Rožca and then on the path that crosses the slopes of Dovška Baba back to the little saddle between Baba and Hruški vrh. Then under Hruški vrh back to sedlo Rožca. From there I climbed the ridge to Klek. From there I intended to descend the ridge to Jekljevo sedlo. When I reached very dense bushes and couldn't see where the path goes, I preferred to go back a bit and descend right through the meadow to the path from sedlo Rožca to Jekljevo sedlo. From the saddle I went on the path that crosses the slopes of Golica to the hut under Golica and from there descent back to the valley.
Since I started early in the morning it wasn't too hot. On the ridge it blew strongly for a while, so no trace of heat. Views were of course phenomenal. I met hardly anyone, and most of them on Dovška Baba.
No problems with the path. Except from Jeseniška planina to sedlo Rožca I wasn't clear where the path goes, so I went as straight as possible up to the ridge, one part through the little forest then through the meadow.
All together almost 19 km and 8h walking. One shift. nasmeh
