Hi so the thing is that my girlfriend wants to go to Triglav, the problem is she hasn't seen a piton or cable yet. I'm insisting we do at least a couple of shorter things first to get her a bit used to it. I'm wondering if you have any good ideas for a one- or two-day trip that would be suitable (some shorter, not overly difficult section with cables, some piton). I've been hiking mainly with family a couple of years ago: Prisojnik, Kanjavec, Kamniško sedlo, Tosc, Storžič, Krn... especially the latter was one of my favorites (especially from planina Kuhinja - batognjica - Jezero v Lužnici, as well as from Lepena). So one- or two-day thing, where there's some slightly more demanding section (cable, pitons) and preferably fantastic view from the top xD thanks and nice weather

On Krn you won't find special difficulties. Exception is only Korenova, which is pretty ugly though and I personally wouldn't recommend it. Otherwise - Storžič through Žrelo, some Kotliči, also Prisojnik along the ridge could be ok. That should do it.

I don't know from which end you two are from home. For the feel of cables and pegs Gradiška tour is great. Right in the morning there's still shade and no excessive heat, not towards noon though. There are two variants, even the easier one is a bit secured. We were up there today, really nice.

It depends a bit on which path you'll take to Triglav, I'd say. I recommend Kamniško Sedlo from Okrešelj for the start and then say Slovensko to Kranjska koča (or further if you want). These two have shorter sections equipped with pegs and cables, nothing particularly demanding nor very exposed. From Kredarica to Triglav there's nothing harder than on these two paths, just the views on the ridge are deeper.

Gradiška tour above Vipava is one serious not too long ascent, most elements are similar to those on the normal ascent from Kredarica to Triglav. So cables, holds, pegs and twists, and with all that self-belaying is possible. It's mainly about getting to know yourself in these surroundings, fitness can be gained in other ways. Similar, but much shorter, is also in Turnec under Smarna gora and of course elsewhere. Take your time, overnight, don't overload etc. Sorry about the commas and š's Good luck.

Both mentioned are actually quite a bit harder than Triglav from Kredarica, although it's hard to compare them. If anything, I think Storžič through Žrelo is a bit more suitable test - the thing has the feeling of real mountains, on the path there are sections with poor terrain quality and slightly more demanding unprotected sections, at the same time the whole thing is of manageable difficulty and fairly short. If I had to decide for one single proposal, I'd maybe choose this one.

just one more question. Brana or Planjava? Both have a smaller part a bit harder, but according to the description they are quite similar, Brana a bit shorter from Kamniška sedla. What do you recommend?
