Italian coast - from Lazaret to Trieste

Yesterday we headed to our neighbors. Since we already know how beautiful the Slovenian part of the sea coast is, we were curious about what the coast looks like in the opposite direction, towards Italy. We parked near the border and headed straight to the coast. We had to leave it several times though, but we expected that, since we didn't plan to swim along the coast if there's no path theresmilesmile.
So, some along the coast, some on roads. In between we also admired the snow-covered Kanin mountains, and the new, renovated part of the coast before the town of Milje (Muggia). We really liked Milje, we also reserved a coffee with croissant stop right for that town. We walked through its streets and stopped at Marconi Square, where there's also the church of St. John and Paul and the municipal palace, all from the 12th-13th century, all in Venetian style. Milje is apparently the only Istrian town on Italian territory. Really beautiful little town that we both want to visit again, with a combination of some other hiking trail.

Then we continued to Trieste, but didn't go into the interior. We finished a bit behind Žavlje, and returned the same way. It added up to about 20 km, as well as several hours of this trip. We finished with swimming at Debelem rtič.

This time the goal of the trip was to visit Trieste from Opčine with the new tram that started running again after an eight-year break this February. Now there are already three, and they do 59 trips daily. First trip from Občine at 7:00 (Via Nazionale), last at 20:04. From Trieste (Piazza Dalmazia) first at 7:22 and last at 20:26.
Ticket costs 1.50 eur and you can buy it at the buffet at the starting station, there you can also buy for the return direction.
We went once during the morning and then there were practically only Slovenes on the tram and seat was no problem. We returned in the afternoon and then barely got a standing spot. Well, we could endure it, since the ride lasts less than half an hour.

In Trieste we planned to visit a couple of points recommended for such a short visit, namely walk across Canal Grande (Grand Canal) to the main square (Piazza Unita d Italia (Unity of Italy Square), walk across the main pier there, indulgence at the Caffe Degli Specchi pastry shop, and a quick jump to the Teatro Romano.

We also intended to walk to Miramar Castle, and we did about half or a bit more of that path, we also stepped towards the Victory Lighthouse, but couldn't enter, as we were too early or too late, take it as you will. We just viewed it from all sidessmile.

Interesting trip, next time a bit different!

I didn't delete it, just changed it. The moon carries someone and then his tablets give way, but I don't need to endure that. Not only the moon, the malga also hit him somewhere . . .
