On Sunday I'm heading to one of the peaks! But maybe someone knows how much snow there is up there and what the conditions are like! Thanks for the reply.

If you're into mountaineering already, get all the gear once and for all so snow won't surprise you in winter or summer!!! Act of God excepted LP

Thanks everyone for the answers! Hope Sunday at least brings nice weather so I'll get something from the hike! To the assault!

Today with the group we skied up from Tamar to the top of Jalovec Couloir. Trail for hikers done, steps very good, conditions in the couloir with winter gear fine. Towards the top a trio of Croats and one Slovene went up, no comments heard as we skied down earlier. Hope someone writes more on the upper ascent part. Descent in couloir excellent, middle some crust, bottom deep powder. Sun and nice weather spiced it up. Tobi, Iztok, Janez, Peter and I enjoyed it. LP Andrej

Has anyone been lately to top of Jalovec couloir? What conditions? Thinking of going Saturday, curious about some things (never been to couloir): - going "on foot", no skis/snowshoes - full gear: ice axe, crampons, helmet, avalanche gear - how many hours from barrier to hut and to couloir top (for "walker") - latest recommended return from couloir (read somewhere sun hits and stones start falling more, better in valley then) - on ascent/approach stick to which side (left, right)?

Thanks. Maybe more advice on "latest return" from couloir (sun, falling rocks/ice) and which side to keep on ascent/approach (assume winter route not on summer path)?

An old mountaineering proverb says that you go to the mountains early in the morning and that the weather turns at noon. Often it's different too, but in principle I stick to this saying. Most likely you'll already have tracks made in Ozebnika itself, so you'll see on site. As for the rocks themselves, I recommend a helmet. I had it on my head on the descent, since I've already been hit by a pebble in the head twice and it feels very good when you have it on. Otherwise it's the winter variant and if I'm not mistaken, this path is closed in summer. Best, Andrej
