Jasovnik - Jasovnik tunnel, as the second in sequence from Celje or Vransko towards Ljubljana, is (right tunnel tube 1633 m and left tunnel tube 1612 m) a total of 3245 m long. The hilly area, in the direction from the eastern to the western part of the tunnel, consists of upper Triassic dolomite and limestone and middle Triassic clays, marls and tuffs covered with an unstable weathering cover... But today, on Sunday 13.11.2011, I was interested in ANOTHER STORY and that is - PERSONALLY - the summit of Jasovnik 764 m.a.s.l. under which the left and right tunnel tubes of the Styrian motorway are drilled... I started in Trojane, because a loop from Motnik or Zajasovnik... would be decidedly too short today on such a nice autumn Sunday. From Trojane I continued along the Rokovnjaška mountain path in the direction of Špilk to the junction for Mala Raven and then to the chapel in the settlement Strmec nad Motnikom... From the chapel leads an unmarked path to Jasovnik on which I somehow!? strayed too much to the west and first climbed up bad, crumbly and steep terrain to the 764-meter-high Jasovnik and from there descended to little Jasovnik... I made the descent to the small settlement Jaršekovo along some kind of hunting-forestry path under the Jasovnik ridge, which I accidentally found... and then partly along the road and partly along meadow paths headed to Motnik... In Motnik, connection to the marked E6 path and then along it back to the chapel in Strmec and further to the settlement Zajasovnik... Continuing in the direction towards Čemšeniska planina - mainly to see Jasovnik from a somewhat more western perspective and also some partial circular tour of the listed settlements Jelšovica, Limovce and Blodnik and then return to the valley and along the main road back to Trojane... Interesting and nice path, variously demanding terrains and relief on a November Sunday. Total 1200 vertical meters, 24 kilometers in five effective hours and interesting connection of the idea through the tunnel to the summit Jasovnik... Regards bruny

Even slightly lower hills are interesting and worth visiting, especially now when days are getting shorter.

Jasovnik hill is practically a blank spot on the web, except for the presentation on the Motnik settlement page, where there's a description of a circular path... Path to Jasovnik

I agree, the hills around often surprise us with what all is offered within reach.

Nice day, but I didn't feel like walking too much Haven't been to Jasovnik yet. In Motnik in winter the sun doesn't shine, so I started a bit below the chapel. When you spot Little Jasovnik, as a pathless hiker it immediately pulled me, where I would go up, even though there's a shyly marked path to the pass between both summits. Then along the ridge practically to the motorway, across it and descent to the main road. Here I just cross the road, higher up I find a trodden path to the left through brambles and climb up the micro path along the torrent to the meadows on the other side of the valley. If we hit forest tracks, the continuation of enjoying the afternoon sun follows, which is briefly interrupted by a bramble-overgrown and broken section of path at the strong spring of water. I recommend it, really nice places, with a bit of sense for orientation the path on the upper link requires about 2.5 h.
