Finally, the weather in our area has warmed up enough that we could start the cycling season. I adapted today's tour to current abilities, so it wasn't too demanding. I drive by car to the village of Ladra near Kobarid, where I start cycling. I go along the sunny side of the Soča River past the villages of Kamno, Selišče, Volarje, Gabrje, and finally Dolje, where at the end of the village I turn left towards the village of Zatolmin. In the village, at the intersection after the sharp bend, I turn left uphill towards Javorca and the Polog highland. From the intersection, the still asphalted road of medium ascent goes for a good km, then the asphalt ends. A good 6 km section of gravel road begins, with some shorter asphalted sections. The path runs through the forest all the way. Although the path is wide enough and allowed for cars, caution is advised as it runs through a very steep slope. After five km, the view opens up. I continue for another good km and then at the junction turn left to the Church of the Holy Spirit, straight goes to Polog highland. The first 300m is flat (there are also parking spaces), then it steeply goes uphill and drags for a good km. The steepest is the last 300m, where we see the little church and the incline is over 20%. The little church is something special, worth seeing. The views are also very nice here to the surrounding hills. I sit a bit in the sun and then ride to the highland. From there back the same way to Ladra.
