Today only the second time on Jelovica. It's not only interesting and beautiful, it's also extensive and I'll have to go up there a few more times to get to know it at least somewhat.

I headed again among the spruces on Jelovica. This time from Jamnik towards Vodica pasture. Spikes are recommended on the path, otherwise trodden and without peculiarities. How the wind blew and couldn't blow the clouds away, see here

Edina, how beautifully you find motifs in nature, very inspiring! Your photos really breathe silence, peace. The rustling of wind in spruces of course enlivens the path. Save Blegoš for a group hike!

It was really nice. Did you see how "artistically" the wood is stacked? I wondered why the mosaic on the hut facade isn't more prominently displayed. Regarding Blegoš, it holds. Regards nasmeh

On Sunday from Kropa (source of Kroparica) to Vodiška planina and back on the path towards Jamnik with a branch towards Petelinovec

starting point - Kroparica spring (path goes along the left side of the stream, then crosses it and steeply up the bank)

From the right side, the path from the church in Kropa joins us.

Path towards Jamnik according to the map, straight ahead on the cart track.

The path ascends for about half an hour.

The path goes very close to the edge, be careful. The dog was on a leash.

Here the two paths should join, most go along the edge.

Markings in both directions - photo back - no signs, straight down towards Jamnik on the cart track.

the path reaches Jamnik-Kropa road, approx. 2 km to start, bends can be cut. Straight downhill on cart track to Kropa

Some impressions from yesterday's trip from Rovtarice to Selska planina, Martinček and Lipniška planina.
At Selska planina you can already get sour milk and cheese.

....Grmečica waterfall, hidden in the forest under Jelovica... The waterfall is wonderful, water roars, sprays as it flows over hollowed rocks and overhanging ledge into deep pool. nasmeh

Majdag, what brave ones you were! I climbed once in a group along this canyon, feelings were quite mixed, not the most pleasant. We turned back too!

Grmečica waterfall is wonderful, water sprays and flows into Grmečica stream. Only the path there is currently quite muddy. On the road lots of patience and plenty of fuel, roadblocks everywhere. nasmeh

In early spring there's International Day of Forests, so I intended to attach a collage of photos from vast forests; although in the forest smell and hearing come more to the fore than sight. Smell of freshly sawn beech or oak logs, smell of spruce...

Or in the fresh morning the muffled song of a male capercaillie and the raspy reply of the female.

Even the most beautiful park can no longer be a forest, just as a dog is only a dog and can no longer be a wolf.

Let's watch over the forests, that's the place where we quickly feel the primaeval, wood sorrels or hepatica, there the graves are still beautiful.

Fledging on Jelovica:

Birds test their wings and leave the nests. The most impatient have already hopped out of nests, so what if with fluff. The young are equipped with strong will, knowledge and owlets climb the tree again, and take off again. They practice and practice and then one day fly away silently forever.

Long live the graduates!

And one more thing: Capercaillie around the nest is really dangerous. Attacks without fear, aims for the eyes.

With the help of its beak and claws, it climbs onto the spruce without difficulty.

Planina Tamar lies on the western edge of Jelovica, about two hours from one of the more important junctions on the plateau near the forestry hut Rovtarica. Despite numerous roads and tracks it's not orientationally demanding and more a walk than a mountain tour. From the pasture nice view towards central Julian Alps with Triglav, from the edge also Bohinj Tolmince nasmeh

and Karavanke.
Roads leading to it were nicely passable this Sunday, despite occasional snow cover (sometimes icy), which is mostly negligible. Nearest access to Tamar from the road running parallel to the pasture a few dozen meters higher, can be found on one of the paths descending to it.
Famous Babji zob from the pasture reachable in three quarters of an hour.

Quite a few felled trees along the path...

Nice long loop around Jelovica, nothing else. We mostly go to Dražgoška gora, Britmanci and Beli peči, occasionally all the way to Vodiška planina, once we were at Zidani skali and once explored to Vratni rob. All from Dražgoše/Jelenšče direction. We noticed those green triangles on trees towards Vodiška planina and they are probably hunting marks (hunting trail, reserve boundary?).
