Today I tied my soul to the MTB and set off on a promising and long tour to Jerebikovec. Start at the parking lot of Bled's Vintgar, after 2km I turn onto the nicer detour via Zg.Laze, as the usual road to Mežakla is quite monotonous. Past Zg.Laze follows a longer descent to the triple junction, where we follow the middle gravel path. It soon joins the usual road. Then a quite long steep climb to the first hayfields of Pl.Ravne. At the mountain hut go straight up and all along the main road to Pl. Zg.Kozjak, which is invisible on the left. Above Kozjak we go past the quarry, above it the path splits and here we turn left onto the road and continue following the long path mostly level. Higher towards the top more similar serpentines in a row await, which always peek over the northern Jesenice edge. At the TNP sign (cycling ban sign!) follows another 15min hike to the summit of scenic Jerebikovec. My path to the summit was a bit off the described route and went to Kisovec summit and scrambling along the sawn main ridge full of stones and branches (had to remove two thorns from the rim spokes), had to carry the bike a bit. Finally spot the right path to below the summit. Views from the mountain are breathtaking, today only five visitors at the top. Žakljev bivouac still stands, but moisture from the last front has eaten it from inside. Before descent a bushy fox accompanies me on the road ahead, which later jumps aside as I was too fast on the bike for it. Return spiced up via Pl.Obranice. In Vintgar afternoon was crowded with Italians, Hungarians and Czechs. Terrace restaurant was full to the last corner. Tour to Jerebikovec is grandiose with 20km climb and 1000m gain. Requires solid fitness. Fast descent from below summit to Vintgar took 53min. Total ride time 4h1min, avg speed 10.3km/h, distance 41.4km.
