Jeterbenk, Rog 798m

viharnik31. 10. 2008 15:58:16
Today, despite bad weather, I paid tribute to the deceased in another way. I visited nearby hills in my area. The path started in Žlebe above Medvode, near St. Marjeta. Here they have newly arranged parking with a directional sign. I hope they'll plow it in winter too. After a short ascent, we are already at St. Marjeta church from the 15th century. Further, a wide path through the forest surprisingly at this altitude turns into a nice pine grove. Further on, surprised by new path concept dating to knights' times. No wonder, nearby still visible ruins of fortress and Petelinec chapel 574m. After a short ascent, we reach summit ridge of Katarina, where path branches to nearby Jeterbenk and on to Rog with possible continuation to more known St. Jakob 806m above Katarina. In winter Jakob has one of rare (uninterrupted by forest) ski descents north to Ločnica valley (350m height). This time too I was caught by short shower and southwest wind. Still happy with renewed survey of home area. Lpp-Rok.nasmeh

Grateful (especially if 25-hour journey to India ahead - 2x plane, bus) Ljubljana tour from Slavkov dom to Jeterbenk led me along NE ridge path. Road that at path junction "at oak" branches right along ridge path, through young beech forest. A bit higher path splits again to left transverse path, which we don't follow. Head strictly along ridge which turns to pine forest. Height difference well over 400m, as entertaining ridge serves several subpeaks. Finally step on summit with cross. Snow patches only on S slopes, otherwise bare. Descent to ridge marker, then strictly left past farms, further recommend upper transverse path reaching S ridge (usual path rutted and muddy from timber extraction). Tour much nicer, solitary than Šmarna gora - recommend. If conditions, off to Himalaya too (ticket 150eur), pictures follow. Lpp-Rokmežikanje

This morning before weather turns bad again, I do a short tour to nearby Jeterbenk.
Up from Slavkov dom along ridge path full of autumn leaves. On summit quickly, but already first raindrops fall. Enjoy fresh air, silence, views, then along circular path to Katarina ridge at chapel and left back. Nice tour for little time.nasmeh

On my personal holiday, 40th anniversary of "viharnik", had to go somewhere into nature. Due to wind decide only for visit to Katarina.
Start tour at Upper Žlebe plateau with St. Marjeta little church. Wide path leads around NW side of Jeterbenk, where local farmers now felling trees and harder to pass. On path slight breeze all the way, some scattered dry branches fallen from trees. Nature covered with up to 10cm frozen snow and very beautiful. Higher under Rog summit wind pulls strongly several times, towards Primorska all wrapped in windy white shrouds with dominant dark clouds. Finish tour quick, festive lunch waiting at home and later Bled cream slices and Sacher torte. Yesterday short toast in pub with excellent iced blueberry liqueurs. Yeah, somehow half life already behind me. Hope it'll be kind to all of us too. Nice greeting!nasmehjezik

Heartfelt thanks for the good wishes, which I especially like to share with you! That cross is really something special. They say they brought it up first with a tractor and I think a helicopter also helped in between. It defies nature, but the wind has already damaged it by breaking off a splinter.

After Christmas, when everyone is still sleeping, a short tour in not too promising weather is fitting.
I start from Slavkov dom in real peace and I'm the first on the parking lot. I continue to in front of the oak with markers, there fully right around the start of the Jeterbenk ridge past the hidden Petelinec church 580m. From there the marked path holds to the ridge, but I follow from memory of pre-teen years right across into a pathlet that cuts the north slopes of Jeterbenk. The path crosses two steep ravines full of really slippery mud, later it turns into an animal trail and is very overgrown and harder to pass. Under the summit I head into initially relatively easy, later steep ravine full of slippery wet leaves and branches that required much caution and step-by-step digging of leaves with the foot to the ground base. Somewhere denser ground interlaced with roots did not allow footing. Only with a good choice of boundary direction of the ascent along the slope did I successfully reach just below the Jeterbenk summit. Even in summer there is no easy walking here. On the top it was blowing a bit colder from the south in rainy drizzle and clouds. Already dirty from mud I descended via the chapel on the normal path Katarina-Slavkov dom. Polhograjci also know how to nicely spice up the path sometimesnasmeh

On Sunday a dose of sun on Jeterbenk. The choice was right, as all around it was quite cloudy, especially towards Lubnik, which was my first choice. Ridge path extremely beautiful, at certain places quite very slippery. It was a nice day velik nasmeh

Today fog left, fog right
spiders took work seriously.
I was busy too,
with motifs had happy face. nasmeh

Conditions: on wet leaves, step quite stable, just at speed mustn't be cheeky. nasmeh
At dawn I began today's peering into the fog.1
He is surely happy about the moisture...2

For today's conditions, quite solid colors4
Lots of spiderwebs, even more pearls5
Not a chick...6
Pity that fog is not a marketable commodity...7
You can see that the humidity was 99%8
There is a target, but no bow and arrows.9
Crochet hook or knitter, that is the question now...10
Spider's thirst...11
The leaves are also tired and have sat down....12
Everything was washing itself....even the little roses.13
The spider danced rock 'n' roll while working...14
Even right at ground level something beautiful can be seen15

I wonder where the host is...19

In the sun, everything would glow even more...21

Walk on solitary paths of Medenski hrib, towards Slavkov dom, Jeterbenk...views over nearby villages, nature, all this gives us strength and energy for positive thoughts. New path towards Žlebe village and branch to Petelinac, St. Jakob chapel, where our part of Jakob path runs. Many beautiful motifs that fill and make us happy, despite limitations.

After a rainy First of May morning, the family visit to Polhograjci was postponed. Good idea, it cleared up after a few hours. This time from Medno along the marked path, which PD Medvode maintains exemplary. From Seničica to Golega Brda, where we could admire the nicely maintained church of the Holy Trinity smelling of incense. We join the path that comes from Slavkov dom. This time not along the ridge path, but below Jeterbenk, short steep ascent to Rog. What views in all directions, freshness of spring colors, all shades of green, yellow dandelion flowers...enjoyment and relaxation at the top, when we caught our breath and figured out which peak we see, which village...Then a short path to St. Jacob. View towards Blegoš and Ratitovec, in the distance snow-covered Julijci. Peaks of Kamniks were in clouds. Descent towards the village Žlebe, Preski and then to Medno, altogether 15 km. Polhograjci are really one pearl that offers us countless beautiful paths.
