From pl. Kuhinja under Krn leads past pl. Kašina and Leskovec one of the paths to Krn. It runs between steep walls of Maslenka and Stadorja. At the passage to the saddle, at height around 1600m, a nice viewpoint Rdeči rob appears on the right, to which an unmarked path leads. Snow cover started at the saddle. Snow was hard on Saturday on a couple steep passages, otherwise just right softened for comfortable walking. Winter gear is necessary. Lužnica valley towards Vrh nad Peski is heavily covered with snow, all slopes from Škofiča to Vrh nad Peski are white. Great day, though a bit too warm. On return before noon it was a full +20 in pl. Kuhinja (991m).

Today from alpine pasture Kuhinja past pl. Kašina, pl. Leskovec to the lake in Lužnica and back the same way. Actually I planned to reach Vrh nad Peski; but for some reason I didn't take the ice axejezen without which the path ahead would be too risky.
Weather in the morning still promising, but a bit before the "amphitheater" and further soft snow lies, which broke through in places, it became foggy and quite windy. From there on snow covers the markers too. Luckily a mountaineer who knows these paths well overtook me and I continued in his tracks. Above the lake in Lužnica the path crossing the slope is icy further on, so I turned back. On the way back I climbed by memory, in thick fog to some summit, which I assume is Maselnik. That summit is on the 7th and 8th photosnasmeh
The mountaineer I mentioned and a German couple are all I met.

How much snow was visible on the slab, if it was visible at all? I have Maselnik on a photo under Krn fotog 10 if you're interested in what it looks like.

I was at the small lake about three months ago, when I find them, I'll post photos of the frozen lake.
The lake in Lužnica is frozen. Taken end of January 2016.1
