Kamen Castle

Only twenty minutes from the center of Begunje at the end of the settlement before we reach Draga we spot the mighty ruins of Kamen Castle. The inhabitants abandoned it centuries ago and left it to the tooth of time. In the auxiliary buildings on the right side of the castle, which are still partially intact, someone even lives. Only the left tower and the room next to the castle chapel have been renovated. Both rooms are locked.

Let me also write that viewing the mighty ruins is at your own risk.
Kamen Castle We spot it quite soon.1
Kamen Castle We have just arrived.2
Kamen Castle In front of the castle gates.3
Kamen Castle To the left, the view immediately draws us to the mighty defensive walls of the castle's first terrace. The enclosure of the second terrace and the ruins of buildings on the last terrace are also visible.4
Kamen Castle There is a panel with the castle's history at the castle gates.5
Kamen Castle Behind the entrance doors is a subsidiary structure of the castle that even has a name.6
Kamen Castle Once we step through the castle's entrance gates, we see this auxiliary building.7
Kamen Castle To the left of the object, we climb a couple of steps to the first terrace of the castle - past that marker.8
Kamen Castle We go up these stairs.9
Kamen Castle View back at the entrance gates.10
Kamen Castle The lower terrace was the castle's first defensive point.11
Kamen Castle These lines served for observing intruders.12
Kamen Castle 13
Kamen Castle From here one reached the second terrace of the castle, from where there is no longer passage to the castle courtyard, where there were towers left and right. Only the left tower is renovated.14
Kamen Castle From this terrace there is a beautiful view of the ruins of the right tower.15
Kamen Castle They placed it on top of steep rock face.16
Kamen Castle It comprised quite a few floors.17
Kamen Castle The entrance to the castle courtyard was slightly adapted and led a bit outside the castle wall.18
Kamen Castle In the castle wall they made a gate and via the drawbridge we reach the castle courtyard.19
Kamen Castle Thus we arrive at the large castle courtyard, on the right side are the ruins of the right tower.20
Kamen Castle Somehow still under the courtyard there were large castle structures – were they used as armory? Entry into it seems to have been from the courtyard.21
Kamen Castle On the right side of the courtyard was the castle chapel with kitchen, a huge residential building with several floors and in the far right corner a tower.22
Kamen Castle Here was the castle chapel.23
Kamen Castle They even had urn niches.24
Kamen Castle Next to the chapel they had the castle kitchen. This structure was renovated and is locked.25
Kamen Castle Next to it was this large multi-story structure, of which only walls remain. One can see exactly how many floors it had.26
Kamen Castle From this courtyard a passage led via a vaulted staircase corridor, first to a wooden covered gallery to the tower.27
Kamen Castle Perhaps it did not look like this renovated one today; it was attached to the masonry and led to the rooms in front of the tower.28
