The Grajske Terase local is open from 8am to 8pm (winter 9am-5pm). If it stays that way after 15.5., when the new tenant comes, we'll see. The terrace is private, closed to visitors.

Haven't been here for a while. Friday (17.1.) trip to Ljubljana gave time to visit Kamniška Bistrica, haven't been for years as we've been starting from Logar Valley lately for peaks.
Shocked, hut closed, decaying. Bistrica spring where they bathe too.
Yes, caring for beautiful Slovenia.zavijanje z očmizavijanje z očmizavijanje z očmi

nasmeh if the hut was closed, that doesn't really mean it's decaying.

The hut is not decaying at all, I don't know where that idea comes from.

Kamniška Bistrica hasn't been an example of environmental care and nature preservation for quite some time; we have to admit it, although it's personally hard for me to say. True, floods caused extra damage and devastation, but Dom v KB has been renovating for so long you don't know if it'll really revive or not, Pri Jurju was closed all last season, I don't even know who handles those caravans settling around the meadow and all the cars crawling up the footpath over rocks to Krvavški bridge to hide in shade or because they don't want to walk as long as they can drive; worst is the bathing in K. Bistrica that's gotten out of hand and summers it's packed with naked bodies changing and lying on grass.. Is this a natural gem? 2024 drinking water analysis showed it's increasingly contaminated with E.coli bacteria, mayor says the KB spring is state's business and municipality can't do anything? Nothing, until we can't drink from Iverje intake where Bistrica flows too... Municipality must prove to state things gone too far and pressure it because it's responsible for water springs if under its jurisdiction. Citizens' corporation asserts rights, exploits surrounding forests, cuts everything possible, even around protected partisan hospital monument on way to Orglice, no responsibility taken as they're quarreling inside corporation etc. Yeah, this IS chaos for me. In Vrata valley they watched tourists washing feet in Triglavska Bistrica in summer, source of drinking water for locals, but Kamnik mayor doesn't care about our water and threw hands up - yeah easiest, really. And look around Kamniška Bistrica source - used to be neat path around spring left side along flow, small bridge over tough step, wooden bench too, now all rotted and collapsed, barely trace left; why nothing fixed? Not primeval forest to let nature be, but famous tourist spot, now sadly pool for all to soak and do other stuff in spring water! I know whatever you write, at least ten bash your head saying what you talking, no clue. Let be what will. Just wanted to politely say that for those visiting Bistrica 50+ years, impression sadder each time and @jprim's comments above far from pulled outta thin air.

Quote from water report: "Results of E. coli measurements in Kamniška Bistrica before Iverje intake on 20.8.2024 (Table 9) confirm assumption that source of fecal stream contamination is septic wastewater on pastures and in Kamniška Bistrica valley, where human-origin E. coli prevail. E. coli values, coliform bacteria, enterococci, total microorganisms at 36 and 22°C on 20.8.2024 are catastrophic (Table 6)".

@zlatica

Finally someone who dares to write the truth. Thanks for such a detailed report.
I myself was totally shocked by what my eyes saw.
True, floods added their piece of destruction, that's nature,...
but here is also man, that's us. But some just close their eyes all their life.
I myself can never pass by without commenting something if it's not as it should be.
Best regards!

Me too, I'm a frequent visitor to these parts, when I arrive by car for a hiking tour, in summer often also by bike. I agree that everything is falling apart, full of wild parking in the spring-summer months; if autumn is nice, it drags on even further...jezen

This is a sad story showing the attitude of visitors and owners to the beautiful end of our homeland. Bathing and littering should be banned and fined, set up sewage in the valley and plateau and more could be found, right?

Contact with contaminated water can cause skin rashes and inflammations, eye and ear inflammation, digestive problems like nausea, vomiting and diarrhea, in more sensitive people even serious infections. Children, pregnant women, elderly and those with weakened immune systems are especially at risk.

"We call on all visitors to respect Kamniška Bistrica as a natural gem and use it only for walks, observation, photography or relaxation by the water. For safe bathing, choose officially designated and regularly checked bathing waters found on the website of the Slovenian Environment Agency or National Institute of Public Health," CČN Domžale-Kamnik also urged visitors.

Sadly Triglavska Bistrica is not contaminated by some washed feet, but by cattle grazing. Where path Za Cmirom meets main road, water full of cow dung. Yesterday at Krnsko Lake. Cows go drink water and stand in lake, where they also defecate.
Interesting to me that nobody minds this. Lake full of green algae.zmeden

and1, agree. Interesting to me how in name of nature protection they restrict access to Vrata and have all possible restrictions in TNP, yet it's totally acceptable that cows defecate literally into Triglavska Bistrica spring.

A couple of years ago we had the Balkan (European) mountain orienteering championship on Pokljuka. Of course TNP demanded to see all course setups, locations of control points,... And the location of one control point, a bit below Plesišče towards Viševnik, was strictly forbidden. Because it's a quiet, most strictly protected area intended for rock ptarmigan mating. Rock ptarmigan is extremely shy and supposedly disturbed even by a mouse sneeze... then it "doesn't come" and no offspring...

Of course I walked everything beforehand when planning the routes. And in that quietest, most strictly protected area, mating were - cows. A herd of about 50 head was there. A couple of bulls among them, already some calves. Maybe cows don't disturb rock ptarmigan, only humans...and mouse...

Cattle are considered locals, equivalent to chamois or marmot or rock ptarmigan, so permanent residents there, while we are foreigners/visitors just on temporary address for those few hours cool Consequently different rights velik nasmeh

Chamois, marmot and rock ptarmigan are part of natural ecosystem, cow surely not.

Well yeah... native cattle - aurochs - went extinct (or were exterminated) hereabouts some 400 years ago. Domestic cows ain't really part of the natural/wild environment.
