Within the mountaineering camp we visited a little-known and rarely visited peak in the Karawanks left of Potoški Stol, looking from below from our side of the border.

Kamnitnik is actually an indistinct dome, shifted somewhat south from the central ridge of Beljščica. Together with Brezov vrh to the east it closes the amphitheatrical cirque Rida. We ascended to it from Valvazorjev dom. We went along the marked path behind the hut through the forest past the former border post to the forest road. The border post was sold and is in private ownership. Along the wide forest or mountain road we go to Potoška planina. Above Potoška planina we continue along the road above the pasture to the Urbas spring, which we see fenced on the right side of the road above. This spring is something special - it has the same water temperature all year round. Here we see wooden signposts, which we can easily miss. So here we turn right uphill along the little path. The path takes us in switchbacks through the forest uphill. The path is crumbly in places. After about an hour and a half from Valvazorjev dom we arrive at beautiful meadows or pastures at bivouac Beljščica-1750m. Above us is a beautiful grassy ridgelet. The path then takes us to the shepherd's hut at the same-named planina. In between we see this path marked with a yellow line. It's some pilgrimage path - I don't know exactly. Above this hut we leave the path and head right across grass-grassy pathless terrain towards the summit of Kamnitnik. Very soon we are at its summit-1858m. From the summit we descend along the path to the eastern side of Kamnitnik along the gully to the path below and past the bivouac back the same way to Valvazorjev dom.
