On Saturday we had a family trip to Kanin. We went up with the gondola to see how more than 8 m of snow looks. I had two cameras with me to capture that. However, another trip awaits us in the summer to compare the snow height - when there's none!!!. I'm attaching some photos, which - I hope - show the snow height.

We also had a family trip. We started at station B and hiked to Dom Petra Skalarja in 3:30 h. The path is visible in the forest but very overgrown, later the marks on the rocks very faded. We slept in the hut; the next day to Kanin (2:10). The hut is nicely kept; we were impressed by the caretakers' hospitality. Attaching some pics from summer Kanin.

Today I chose Kanin for the tour hoping it was dry, started very early from B station or a bit higher, marks poor at places, on the path someone had breakfast, higher at the view to the highest Kanin peaks it was already clear it'd be hard to get up, had winter crampons, path drags to just before the wall, there hear stones flying down from melting snow, look at slopes and watch what's happening, immediately turns me off even approaching the south wall where the path runs alongside, decide to still reach one easy almost dry summit, then across meadows to the station, despite temperatures around 10°C the snow in shade was hard.

Yesterday did a circular route: from the pass in Žlebeh (Nevejski preval) to Gilberti hut (cable car not running yet, new mountain path west of ski slope arranged), over Sedlo Bela peč to Bivak Marušič (occasional small snow patches), from Bivak Marušič over Vrh Krnice to Kanin summit (completely dry, protections OK, markings good), descent over north wall (new protections, part of cables in wall under snow!) to Kaninski led, snowfield to path over Foran del Muss (ice axe and crampons necessary), back over Sedlo Bela peč and down ski slope to pass in Žlebeh

@evgnec, you're writing about new things, but they are old for at least 4 years, both the path by the ski slope and protections on Via Julia mežikanje

There is very little snow and the last snowfall led us to the saddle Na Žlebeh, from where we took the lift above Prevala. Further in touring skiing style: first walking on skis in the shade of the mountains to the saddle under Prestreljenik, where the sun warmed us. After a break we skied to the D station. The bistro is not operating. We continued skiing down the slopes of the former ski area and enjoyed as much as possible. As much as we descended, so much we walked back to Škrbina under Prestreljenik and skied on hard and icy snow in the shade all the way to the starting point. So we were on Kanin several months earlier than usual.
