Katarina above Ljubljana 728m (northern ascent via Žlebe)

This morning I climbed in the reverse direction to Toško čelo and to the top of Sv. Jakob. Below in the Lj. basin to the top of T.Č. there was terrible humidity, so it was suffocating in the lungs, with lots of sweating. A trained guy with a roadbike passed me, also gasping for air. Up on the plateau it was much better, on Jakob even better for the air. Wind from S-SW, sun generously shining, so I lay a bit on the bench. I descended the northern path to the west ridge via the Mamovec farm to Medno and back to Ljubljana. Nice and rewarding tour as always! Lp

Today I did a slightly longer loop to Katarina with start at 17h when the sun is losing power.
Start via Šentvid to Medno where I cross Sava on the wooden bridge, slight ascent to Vikrč past the new golf course before Smlednik. In Valburga I visit Bora from K2 alp. shop and his huge dog. Further past Zbilje where the new parking lot is not enough for the huge car traffic. Meanwhile I cool off in the forest sections of the road. Quickly to Jeprca past Ladja with descent to Sora, then follows ascent in the cool shade of Ločnica valley to Topol-Katarina. At the top I stop and enjoy the moments with the view while crunching a muesli bar in the pleasant breeze. Then quick 10km 15min descent to Toško čelo and a shot to home. Driven loop 42km, avg speed 20km/h, riding time 2h. Since I'm traveling to Italy, next time I'll report from Savoy Alps-Tignes if everything goes according to plan. Today before the deterioration I used two hours of nice ascent in the shade. Via Žlebe and Ravanški grič I turn into the cool groves, past the high-altitude farm Kozomer 680m there left on the road with slight descent and ascent to the ridge between Jeterbenk and Rog. On this path, which is not so known, again no one, on Katarina in the nearby taverns quite some cyclists. Followed a quick descent past Toško čelo to Ljubljana. Nice nearby tour for fitness and enjoying nature.

In memory of Ruth I went MTB in one of her many sports attributes, leaving the mountains to her protection and tranquility that she loved so much.
Up I go via Žlebe over Kozomer farm to the ridge below Jeterbenk, then along the ridge with bike on shoulder I jump to the top of Rog.
There was a bit of cloudiness with some sun, which revealed itself in full shine only in the afternoon.
I finished the circular tour via Toško čelo with only one more cyclist from Katarina. After such a tour (especially because of the descent) a hot shower at home is welcome.

Today I repeated the tour with a late start for tropical conditions only at 9am.
Yesterday Kastelic and I equipped the bike service until late hours at the new location in Zg. Šiška at the Autotehna laundry next to the gas station. Tonight already off to Zadar to rent a boat to the Poles.
The tour over St. Katarina was also in shade up to 500m quite hot, above 600m in shade cooler, at the top with a light breeze that nicely cooled. The Ljubljana basin looked from below Jeterbenka like a smoky murky cauldron. There followed a quick descent via Toško čelo with time record 1h45min for the whole loop. No pics, cheers!

In the morning I did a foggy circular tour over Toško čelo, Katarina, Jakob, Kozomer, Žlebe, Medno and home. The fog didn't clear up to the top, it even got thicker, so Jakob wasn't visible even nearby. Due to humidity in the air it was colder than last time in icy grip. MTB fans on the path again zero! . Below 600m it cleared up again in Žlebe from fog, because at faster downhill ride, visibility was already worse . Nice tour as always, although foggy. But I don't remember when I rode the Polhograjci so well in December. Cheers!

Viharnik, you always have time for interesting photos near Ljubljana. The new log cabin in Žlebe will be like from a fairy tale land. A real wooden artwork. Cheers!
