Komna and further

With children 5 and 8 I'd like to go from Koča pri Savici to Dom na Komni.
From there we could go further to Koča pod Bagatinom.
Nowhere have I seen what the trail is like and of course how long it is if we wanted to continue to the Vogel cable car on the second day, with which we'd then go down to the valley.
Would this continuation even be suitable for children?
Thanks for the info.

From Komna to Vogel is apparently quite far, so you certainly won't benefit a 5-year-old with that, and the heat at that altitude is still great. To the hut on Komna, if you start early enough, is still tolerable, and there's enough shade too.
Although I think those brave parents will show up again who like to boast where all they've dragged their kids and how enthusiastic they were, in your place I wouldn't take them into account.

Hello aina,

I as a 5-year-old walked the path from Savica to Komna without problems accompanied by parents. That one to Vogel is already real torment even for adults who are somewhat used to hiking, as it drags on for whole 5 hours.
And check the weather forecast well for that and the next day, if you happen to overnight on Komna.

Wish you a nice trip nasmeh

Today I couldn't stay home either. Drove to Savica. Minimal backpack and off I go. Didn't have the tour pre-planned. Ran where it pleased me on the spot and thus also handled some work duties on the fly.

Savica- Komarča - Črno jezero- Komna- Lanževica over Lepa Komna - Bogatin- Mahavšček- Tolminski Kuk- Škrbina - Planina za Migovcem - Komna- Savica.

Except for the first hour over Komarča I didn't feel fatigue. After warming up after a couple hours of running, it flew again. Wonderful mountain run. Here and there I rested a bit in comfortable soft and warm mountain meadows. nasmeh

Only pity is I didn't start a bit earlier and ran out of daylight to go further. Next time!

And news of the day: at Savica they no longer charge parking! nasmeh While toll in Stara Fužina they collect at least until end of month.

More detailed report maybe I'll write later.

Ours paid the parking fee at Savica yesterday morning.

I'm curious about the toll in Stara Fužina. Until what time do they collect it? Can you then drive to Planina Blato?

@ Nata 24: Then maybe I didn't have to pay it because I was so late.

@ Andrej5: I don't know until what time they collect it. When I went back in the evening (around six) they were no longer collecting it. If they don't collect parking you can pass normally, no barrier just a chain. They supposedly start at six in the morning.

This time a two-day aimless wander on the snowy expanses of Komna.
The trail to the hut on Komna is well trodden. Up to 1100 m there's a lot of fallen trees. Most logs across the path are already sawn, some still under snow.
Won't comment on the wanderings on beautiful Komna. Two days that will remain long in good memory nasmehnasmehnasmeh

How's the condition from Komna towards Lanževica, over Lepa Komna and back via Bogatinsko sedlo? Asking for a hiker with snowshoes?

From Komna to Bogatinsko sedlo there are also visible tracks of hikers. From the saddle to Lanževica recommend snowshoes (I had them too). Before Lanževica itself the most dangerous are air pockets where under snow are holes that aren't visible and dangerous to fall into. Otherwise snow is well settled, no avalanches noticed. Snow conditions praised also by ski tourers.
Recommend visit midweek! Otherwise for weekend they forecast weather worsening.

Two-day aimless wandering on Komna, Lepa Komna and Planina Govnjač. Actually, the only goal was to enjoy the beauties and peace.

Thanks everyone. Otherwise the compacted snow cover towards Komna starts around 1100m. To the hut at Komna and further to planina Na Kraju it's well trodden (in the morning sometimes icy). For longer trips skis or snowshoes are mandatory.
Nice weekend everyone!
