Today we went on a pleasant hike from Koper to Markovec to Izola.
Markov hill has been Koper's garden since ancient times. Here they produced the most vegetables, wine, oil and fruit to supply Koper. Surpluses were sold in Trieste. It got its name after St. Mark, who was the protector of the Venetians. Under the summit awaits a wonderful church of St. Mark. A non-strenuous hike to the top of Markovec awaits us. Only just below the summit there is a bit of steepness. We walk past numerous olive groves, vineyards. Very quickly we then descend to Izola.
