Along the long "under construction", but luckily still unpaved bike path N.Gorica - Plave, I rode in the pleasant coolness right above the Soča and the railway track to the village of Plave, then towards Brda. Before the village of Vrhovlje there's a turn-off for Lig and Korada. Nice asphalted road runs more or less in the shade of trees. But when you cycle onto the plain, royal views open up to the Julijci and to the sea. A light breeze was more than welcome, as the sun in our parts still "burns" well . I sat a bit, enjoyed the peace, then path under the wheels and back to Vrhovlje. I descended towards Brda. A couple of km from the mentioned village there's a road turn-off to Sabotin and since I was early, I turned onto this path too, which winds through the forest, a bit on the plain, up, down....to the guardhouse, where there's a barrier. Less than a km below the guardhouse I saw a sign - bike path to Šmavr and that was more than welcome. I was afraid I'd have to return the same way to Vrhovlje and then along the Soča, which was already mercilessly scorching, to Nova Gorica. Descent to Šmavr is quite steep... I don't know if it exceeds 30°. Uphill on this path I definitely wouldn't go . Marked like the Vršič one...with numbers of turns, but not as many as on Vršič. Before Šmavr the path approaches the famous Sabotin road, which during border times ran through SLO and Italian territory, then descends to Peuma and across Soča back to Slovenia. Nice circular tour around and to Sabotin, with Korada in between
