Košutna and Vrh Korena

Yesterday we ascended from Kriška planina to planina Koren, from where we continued towards planina Košutna. We left the marked path leading from planina Košutna to Kompotelo and Vrh Korena at the spot where it is indicated, but instead of left we continued right where there was a mark. Due to the incorrectly drawn marking we then ascended to the summit through scrub. From Košutna we continued the path to Vrh Korena (logbook box without book) and from there returned to the starting point via Jež-a ridge. LP Esther and Tadej

Kriška planina – Planina Koren – Planina Košutna – Košutna
Yesterday: snow starts at entry to Planina Koren, already before some patches and two larger avalanche fields. It is rotten and sinks 10 to 20 cm. Despite that, the sun made a nice trip.

Today, due to awkward snow I ended the tour at Pl.Koren, though the original plan was to extend to Pl.Košutna and the top of Košutna. The intermediate traverse to Pl.Košutna already by feel on the way didn't show enough support for snowshoes, so I have plenty of time for dozing in the warm sun. Meanwhile I watched the descent of a ski tourer from Zvoh and enjoyed it thoroughly. Since during the day more hikers and skiers came, the path is now much better trodden than in the morning, but only to the first snow. On the return Pl.Jezerca just barely held the sun threshold, below gray and -8.5°C, lots of visitors! LP-Rok
