Today I climbed from the Vipava hunting lodge, which is located above the village of Budanje, to the 961m high Kovk. The path was dry up to around 800m, then there was about 5cm of new snow on it, which the sun quickly melted.

Hello,
It was a nice day, perfect for visiting our Kovk, but on the way to the top I encountered a terrible sight.
A few meters off the marked path I spotted a little pup whining and limping.
I approached him and saw he was caught in an iron trap - jaw trap.
Who still uses these traps, people without conscience, as far as I know they're banned and last I saw them in the movie Shepherds, which I watched with kids.
The dog growled when I approached, but when I bent to free him, he became very tame and scared.
I freed him and the pup limped away, after a few meters turned as if to thank me and disappeared somewhere.
Thank God I chose this ascent today and saved the little dog's life.

This story touches me, glad for the happy outcome. Really nice, though cruel too.
Sometimes those needing help somehow "call" you. Once on Amariana in the Carnic Alps I rescued two dogs from the mountain top, alone starved and thirsty mid hot afternoon sun. Someone left them or owner injured somewhere. Never found out.
Carried one dog most way to valley, other barely walked itself. They ate forest berries and drank and ate my remaining snacks. When brought to shelter in Tolmezzo they didn't want to part. Heartbreaking...

This story touches me a lot too! Bravo! The dog was surely very grateful to you and this is another proof that among us mountaineers there are still people with big hearts! Very commendable

Buda1, congratulations, otherwise immediately to the police station, and complaint against unknown person. He broke 2-3 laws there! What if some child stepped into that trap
